All my Records reset

Cumulus crashed on me a while ago and all my All Time Records have reset themselves. I can still go into each month since October and check data from each month so the information is still there. Do i need to go through all my data and update all the All Time Records Manually? Why would it have reset itself in the first place? Hopefully there is a handy solution to this nightmare. Regards

Mike

Edit: Problem fixed by using the alltime.ini backup file to restore records

You may have a corrupt alltime.ini file - can you paste the contents here?

Cumulus takes a backup of the alltime.ini file every time it starts (look in the 'backup' folder) so you should be able to find a recent copy there. And in the worst case of none of the backups being suitable, the all-time record editor can recreate a good approximation of your all-time records from your data files (some may need a bit of correcting if you have some bad readings in your data files).

But don't you take your own regular backups of all of the data files anyway?

Can you upload the bugreport.txt file from the crash, please? The only way I can think of that the alltime.ini file could become unreadable because of a crash would be if it crashed while writing it.

As i said in the original edit of my post i was able to fix the issue by using the data backup of the alltime.ini file. I don't take my own back ups of data files but i will be in future. I enclose a copy of the bugreport.txt. Cheers Steve

Thanks; it crashed at close down trying to write cumulus.ini:

exception class : EIniFileException
exception message : Unable to write to C:\Cumulus\Cumulus\cumulus.ini.

It's reasonable to assume it also had a similar problem writing alltime.ini. Unfortunately the system code that handles all of this doesn't give enough information to determine the cause of the problem. But at least you've recovered the file, that's the important thing.

Had a crash again this morning after which my Rainfall monthly and yearly totals are incorrect. Monthly is showing 41.4 should read 45.4, Yearly showing 352.2 should read 356.6. What is the best way to fix these errors?? I enclose a Bug Report file

Regards

Mike

That crash appears to be while you were closing Cumulus, so shouldn't have any effect on any data. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I may be able to see what's happened to your rainfall figures.

You have a problem in your dayfile.txt, unrelated to the crash:

21/07/2011 08:56:52.181 : Error reading Dayfile: List index out of bounds (0)
21/07/2011 08:56:52.181 : Rainthismonth from dayfile.txt: 41.3999977111816
21/07/2011 08:56:52.181 : Rainthisyear from dayfile.txt: 352.199890136719

It may be just a blank line. If you sort that out with Cumulus stopped, the totals may be correct when you start Cumulus again.

Your right Steve it was a blank line. Fixed it and restarted. All OK now.

Thanks as always for your help

Another crash overnight which this time has deleted yesterdays line in the dayfile. Also the recent extremes section has the max temp today at 17.1, time 13.29. Its currently 12.55 so how could it have that temp and time as the Max. In the main window of Cumulus i have no Data at all for yesterday. I checked the "yesterday" file and there is wrong data in there as i know the min temp was 6.6c but its saying 10.9c. A bit of a mess to say the least. Any ideas how to solve this??

Thanks As always

It's presumably failed to do the rollover, so yesterday's data has continued to today. Please zip up the diags folder and attach it, together with the bugreport.txt file from the crash.

It's crashed trying to write dayfile.txt, but I'm afraid I can't say any more than that because you're using a very old beta build of 1.9.1. Could you install the release version, please?

You should be able to recover by stopping Cumulus and restarting from the backup created when you started Cumulus at 29/08/2011 18:01 (copy the files out of the backup folder into the data folder).

Thanks Steve, that did the trick, all back to normal now. Didn't realize i was using a beta version. Will have to bit the bullet and upgrade. What was putting me off was that i had made alot of changes to the webpage and didn't want to risk losing them but i will read the wiki and hopefully the upgrade will go ok. Cheers again Steve, Brilliant support as always.
