Im new to the forum here and i would like to say hello to everyone.
I have a question or two about my WS-1080 wx station.
The indoor humidity is reading 55% while the outdoor humidity is reading 99%. Could anyone tell me why that may be the case? The station is new, i just assembled it today and put it online.
The second question is; the Pressure History reading at the bottom that shows bars, is constantly reading and going from 0h -1h -2 -4 -6 -8 -10 & -12. 0h and 1h have 4 bars and the rest have 3 bars. Is this normal and what is it doing?
Thanks for any help. Im looking forward to being a part of the forum.

I believe i figured the issue out. It may be a bad oscillator chip in the transmitter.

Jeeze! I couldn't handle that! It's 39% now
About the humidity issue I was having. It is the oscillator chip. Replacement on its way

Re: WS-1080 Solar Incorrect Humidity reading
Why is it a problem that the outside humidy is different than the inside? That's why it has the two measurements available. I don't see it as a fault, unless you can prove/test that the actual values are wrong. I've had 99% outside with indoor readings 20 or 30 so below that.KOHBUCYR2 wrote:Im new to the forum here and i would like to say hello to everyone.

As for the pressure, the history is showing you that the pressure is rising, as the current reading (ohrs) is 4 bars and 1 hr ago was the same, but before then it was lower.

Re: WS-1080 Solar Incorrect Humidity reading
I proved my humidity reading error by comparing my wx station to 3 different stations. 1 station was 4 miles from here with a humidity reading at that time of 55% the 2nd station at 12 miles away was reading 57% and usairnet.com showing the state of Ohio at 58%. My station was reading 99% since the day of installation from July 6th until July 11th when the hygrometer was replaced.
The new hygrometer was replaced and within a minute after the station receiver linked with the transmitter; the humidity dropped from 99% to 75% which then was compared to the above stations and found to be reading properly.
Not to mention the faulty transmitter was causing inaccurate readings from the anemometer. The wind speed constantly read 0.07 and a gust of 2.2 when wind speeds were calm and or 10mph with a gust of 14mph+
Turns out that its "common" for a ws-1080 to have issues with the hygrometer/transmitter. However; once you receive a working hygrometer the station will perform "as advertised"

Re: WS-1080 Solar Incorrect Humidity reading
Just to add another point. The elevation of the instrument can have a lot to with high readings. Below about five feet and you pick up moisture from the surface.
Mine inside of course is much lower than the outside this time of the year because of air conditioning.
Heat index here today 109
Apparent Temp 104

You are correct. Elevation is an important factor when installing your wx station.
My station is 45ft high. It's installed on a stand-off that I have on my Amateur (ham) Radio tower.
I followed these guidelines for installing the station: http://wiki.wunderground.com/index.php/PWS_-_Siting
