Correcting Rain and wid gust data

A day ago the Rain data went through the roof and the wind gust also. I've changed the Alltime .ini and the today.ini files but the year , day and month figure keep changing back as does the gust data to the incorrect figures. Where is the data being pulled from?

Which figures do you mean? If you mean the the highs for this month and this year, they are in month.ini and year.ini respectively; you can edit those files (with Cumulus stopped) or use the built-in editor.

You'll have to tell me exactly which figures you want to correct.

Wind figure for:

Today
To correct today's total, you need to edit today.ini as described here: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_sta ... it_to_zero
Yesterday
Yesterday's total is in today.ini and in dayfile.txt
Monthly
Yearly
Once you've corrected yesterday's and today's totals, the monthly and yearly totals will correct themselves.
Wind figure for:

Gust
Today's high gust is in today.ini.
Which also affects the alltime figures
The alltime records are in alltime.ini; you can either edit the file, or use the built-in editor.

Many Thanks

will look at tomorrow, with a clear head

It'll be much easier tomorrow because you don't have today's rain to correct, which is the tricky bit. You will pretty much just have to correct dayfile.txt and alltime.ini.

I decided to download the 1.9.2.version with the editor, which only partly fixed some of it. My monthly and yearly rain totals are still wrong. No matter what I do to the dayfile.txt and Alltime.ini or for that matter the Jun11.log file etc, these figures I can't change to reflect the true values monthly and yearly rain totals.

This month I should have 46.6mls rain (instead of 337mls) and a yearly total of 244mls (instead of 537.2mls) of rain. I can't locate where it is pulling these figures from or how it is calculating them.

This is the Monthly.ini file rain section

[Rain]
High=14.3999996185303
HTime=15/06/2011 11:29:00 AM
HourlyHigh=0.600000023841858
HHourlyTime=29/06/2011 7:43:00 AM
DailyHigh=150.5 If I change this it comes back
HDailyTime=29/06/2011 8:53:32 AM

This is the Yearly.ini file

[Rain]
High=0
HTime=6/01/2011 2:11:00 PM
HourlyHigh=0.600000023841858
HHourlyTime=29/06/2011 7:43:00 AM
DailyHigh=150.5 If I change this, it comes back
HDailyTime=29/06/2011 8:53:32 AM
MonthlyHigh=483 and the same here
HMonthlyTime=29/06/2011 8:53:32 AM

This the Alltime.ini

[Rain]
highrainratevalue=2.40000009536743
highrainratetime=29/06/2011 5:13:35 AM
highdailyrainvalue=150.5 If I change this, it comes back
highdailyraintime=29/06/2011 8:42:48 AM
highhourlyrainvalue=1.79998779296875
highhourlyraintime=29/06/2011 5:58:35 AM
highmonthlyrainvalue=483 and the same here
highmonthlyraintime=29/06/2011 8:42:49 AM

Don't know how the monthly and yearly figure are derived or how they are being calculate, even after looking at the wiki etc.

The monthly and yearly rainfall totals are calculated from the daily totals in dayfile.txt. So, if your current month and year totals are the highest, based on those figures, the record will keep getting broken.

If you can't find the problem in dayfile.txt, attach the file here and I'll find it for you.

Steve the editor fixed the today and yesterday, but not the monthly and Yearly totals(pic attached of screen shot of Cumulus, plus dayfile.txt).
Also attach the Jun11log.txt.

You have two entries for 28th June (looks like the second one just needs deleting), and both have 145.1 mm total rain in them. Fix that and your monthly and yearly totals will be correct.

28/06/11,28.1,22,12:13,6.5,07:13,18.9,14:58,1030.6,13:43,1034.1,22:54,0.0,00:13,145.1,12.5,120.5,13.3,12:13
28/06/11,7.2,90,00:09,10.6,00:01,10.6,00:01,1033.6,00:08,1033.9,00:07,0.0,00:01,145.1,10.6,0.2,5.0,00:09

Many thanks, FIXED!

I note that the article you sent me (http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_sta ... it_to_zero) and the one I've just looked at on the web site for the dayfile.txt format are different. This is why I was having so much difficulty. One is locates at position 12 and the other at 15.

Kind regards
Kim

The FAQ about correcting today's rain total doesn't have the format of dayfile.txt in it.
