Wich web translator do you use?

Post by JacquesD »

Hi,

I'm a little late on english translations on my site and want to do a clean job.

Someone have mention Babelfish here as a good French to English translator, it seem to be better then Google Translate... but wich one is the best on all web translator sites?

Wich one do you prefer?

Thanks in advance,
Jacques

A human is always the best translator ;)

Are you wishing to offer a tool on your site to auto translate as people move around the site, or do you plan to have sepearate pages for other languages?

Hi Daj,

I don't know if automatic web translation on-site is good enough. When I translate English French, sometimes results are a little "Funny" But far less job!

For the moment, I do it by hand with help of web translators tools. But it'a a big job!

what's your opinion?

Jacques

It's a difficult one! Automatic translators are not yet clever enough to deal with all the nuances of modern languages, and yes, you can get some very strange results. What you really want is someone very familiar with both languages and with knowledge of the subject being translated. Many terms are specific to the subject and want translating correctly. I think one of the main problems with english is that we have words and phrases imported from so many different languages. Good luck with it :)
