Wind rose/distribution graphic

Yesterday, I upgraded to the latest official release (1.9.1 build 989) and it appears the wind rose / wind distribution display is not working for me. It's been dead calm for a day or so, but we're getting a light breeze this morning, and nothing is showing. This is true both on the desktop display and the web. My web page is here so you can see for yourself: http://www.windblownsolutions.com/test/ ... gauges.htm

Randomly, I see a blue line near where I'd expect it. I have the windrose color set to red - changing it makes no difference. Actually, sometime setting the colour works for a few minutes, then it goes back to blue.

Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss a bug report? (Running on XP - SP3)
Maybe there needs to be a few hours wind before it works properly?

Short answer - yes.

The wind rose doesn't 'pre-load' from the data logs like the graphs do. This means that when you start Cumulus, if it didn't have to download anything from the station logger, the wind rose is empty, so takes a while to show anything meaningful. The reason you're seeing blue instead of red is that the plotted area has a blue border. This can't be changed.

Also, it's showing wind distribution, so even when it has some data to play with, if your wind has been coming from the same direction in the recent past, it will still only show a straight line.

Finally, if your station has a tendency to under-report 'intermediate' directions (NNE, SSW etc), then the wind rose will usually look better if you switch it to 8-point mode in the display settings.

I'd like to replace the wind rose with one that's like the other common type that you see, but I can't find any source code for that which is suitable. Alternatively, I'm considering reverting to the one that was in 1.9.0, I think that on the whole it looked a little better.

It's filling in nicely now with a bit of a breeze - I believe just the act of you thinking about it resolved the issue  . It figures that I'd find the one dead calm day we've had in months to do the install. When nothing was showing after 18 hours, I had to ask.

Anyway, thanks for the quick response, and a totally excellent piece of code!
