PWS rain amounts are low

Post by Skywatcher_ne »

Steve,

This morning I received 2.61 inches of rain. Cumulus, CWOP and Weather Underground amounts are correct however my PWS page is only listing 1.46 inches. I ran a debug log right before PWS updates and see that Cumulus is reporting 2.61 inches to PWS. Cumulus 1.9.2 build 998. I have my PWS data update every 15 min. Any ideas?

Thanks

Strange - must be them ;)

Today says AVERAGE precip = 10.38"
(Today) Trends says rain continued after 05:00
But today readings say total unchanged / rain rate 0.0"

According to your WU data, 1.46 in appears to be your maximum hourly rain today, so it looks like that's what PWS are actually displaying rather than the total.

Well that's strange. According to Cumulus my max hourly rainfall rate was 6.00 in per hour. But my WU total is correct. So is this a PWS problem? I have sent them a support email about this.

Which figure is that? You've said 'rate'; the WU and PWS figures are 'rain in the previous hour', which is not the same as the rate.

I'll wait for the next rainfall and see what happens. No response yet from PWS support.
