how to modify pre-loaded web page

Post by wethergank »

Hello,
I would like to modify the pre-designed web page that is included with Cumulus. Specifically this phrase
"Welcome to .

The weather station in use is the Davis Vantage Pro2, and these pages are updated every 10 minutes. The meteorological day used at this station ends at midnight."

I originally thought this would be done in weatherstyle, however, I don't see the phrase. Many moons ago I had limited experience with web pages. At that time an index page as used and I don't see that either. Obviously i am behind the times, can someone please offer some guidance?

Thank you .....

Yes, it's an index file, specifically indexT.htm.

Above is correct,

If you look in your cumulus "web" folder, you will see indexT, that is the file you need to edit, and like most around here the best editor IMHO, is notepad++.

Always make sure you make a copy of the file first of all, keep it safe, edit what you want on the file and save it, and then do a webupdate. If it stuffs up on the site, then copy over the original and try again.

if you just need to modify the "Welcome to . " text, please bear in mind that the part before the '.' is take from the station description within Cumulus. So if you simply want to add text, complete the necessary empty text boxes within the station config page in Cumulus.

If you wish to go further, as others have said, indexT.htm is the file to edit

Thank you, I was looking in the webfiles folder. So the indexT is uploaded every time Cumulus updates the web.
For some reason I was thinking the index would be uploaded once during set-up (like the contents of webfiles was) and updated accordingly......

Thanks again.

Kind of. Cumulus actually processes the <#webtags> that are coded in the indexT.htm file and converts them into the real actual data. It then creates an index.htm (without the T) and uploads that to your webspace at the interval you have set in the internet settings within Cumulus.

That makes perfect sence to me - Thank you for taking the time to explain.
