Cumulus Toolbox does not upload files (FTP).

Post by aldofer »

Up to now I used Toolbox only to edit Cumulus files without problems.
Now I am tryng to upload a file (dayfile.txt) but the following error message appears:
Upload failed. The underlyng connection was closed: The server committed a protocol violation.
I use a "Thin Client" Wyse 9450XL With Windows XPe (embedded) and the .NET Framework version installed is: 3.0.
The problem is found both if I click on the button "Upload now" or if the upload is planned for a specific time.
The FTP server connection works very well with Cumulus 1.9.1

Where is my fault ?

Ciao Aldo :)

David will probably be able to help you better than I, but your remote filename looks suspect to me. If it really doesn't need a path, have you tried it without the leading slash?

Hi Aldo,

Typically a folder structure would appear under the Remote filename, showing you where abouts on the webserver Toolbox will upload it to. (see my example)
toolboxscreen.jpg
Toolbox takes this from Cumulus settings -- have your went into the Setup in toolbox and told it where your cumulus.ini file is located? I'm guessing you have as you say you used Toolbox to edit the files, however worth checking.

On a side note, I see you are uploading the dayfile at 22:15 -- would it not be better to do this just after midnight (or 9am) -- whenever the roll-over is done?

Hi David,
when I browse to select the Local Filename (dayfile.txt),in Remote Filename the string "dayfile.txt" appears (without slash), and this seems correct because Cumulus uploads on the root of my webspace.
I checked in Toolbox Setup the location of cumulus.ini and it is correct.
Finally, uploading the dayfile at 22.15 was just a test to verify AutoUpload a few minutes after the setup.

Ciao Aldo :)

Ok, the only other time I have seen this error is when your have a space (or other illegal character) in your ftp (host) server name.

Toolbox takes these settings from Cumulus. Can you check carefully that you have no spaces end the end of your hostname in the Cumulus Internet settings. It may be that you have, and Cumulus ignores them.

David, thanks for the quick reply, I checked out your suggestion but it's all OK.
I'm beginning to suspect that Windows XPe can be a part of the problem (I have met other inexplicable problems as the inability to run simple programs like Fwink or Yawcam that worked well on XP SP3), but I do not know how.
