Cumulus & reboot PC

Post by Friday »

From time to time the PC running Cumulus freeze. The only way to get it up and running again is to make a hard reset. This is a bit inconvenient with the PC about 4 hours from home.....

I woluld like to make a scheduled routine that makes a automatic reboot of the computer every night. There are several ways to do this i.e. make a scheduled task that runs shutdown.exe with -r parameter at a given point of time.
But what about Cumulus? Will Cumulus update all data files if the computer is restarted with just the shutdown command?
Is there a command line switch that tells Cumulus to save all data and "kill" itself? This could be useful in a batch file as a part of the reboot routine.

I have searched the forum, but was not able to find anything about Cumulus command line parameters.

Cumulus should be OK with the PC just being rebooted, switched off, or whatever. When you start it up again, it will just continue from the last time it wrote to the log files, using data from the station's logger to catch up if necessary.

One piece of advice I would offer - don't do your reboot just before midnight, or between midnight and 0100 (assuming you use a midnight "rollover"). While it should be OK, it's best avoided.
