Loss of wind direction on Cumulus restart

I'm a new Cumulus user in the last few weeks. While the host PC on which I run Cumulus is pretty stable, from time to time (such as for recent Windows 7 updates) I do restart it, and I have once or twice accidentally terminated Cumulus without a full PC restart.

Each time Cumulus has restarted the wind direction data history graph afterwards has displayed an obvious anomaly in that the data from before the restart show "wind direction" equal to "average", while after the restart appears proper.

here is an example as the wind direction data appeared on my Cumulus-generated website today some hours after a Windows Update inspired computer restart.


Is this a Cumulus bug? Or is it likely I've got something wrong in my installation that is causing this?

Somehow I don't feel it likely that this is properly described as a feature.

It's not a feature, it's just the way it is. I could 'partly' change it, for the case of a quick restart, but it still wouldn't and couldn't be consistent in all cases.

Oops. Missed spotting that in the FAQ. Sorry about that. I attempted a forum search but think I neglected a separate FAQ search before posting--despite your clear urging atop the forum pages.

I think the combo format currently supplied provides considerable extra information. In my personal case, my wind hardware is operating five feet off the ground in an enclosed courtyard pending resolution of a neighbor complaint for my rooftop installation. Apart from the wind speed being greatly reduced, the wind direction veers around wildly moment by moment in this poor location. I hope within the month to get neighborhood Architectural Control Committee approval for a revised lower-visibility rooftop installation.

At the time of the changeover, I'd expect to see the scatter of the individuals around the average line to tighten up considerably, and will value seeing that in the Cumulus plot. I'll just need to try to assure no computer/Cumulus restart around the changeover time.
