Hello....
Long story but.... I can confirm that the Oregon Scientific WMR-88 USB Weather Station does work under the WMR-100 Configuration Setting
I'll be explaining more in the next week or so... stay tuned!

I've stayed tuned, but you've gone awfully quiet on this subject; is this to be taken as bad news regarding this model?6719jason wrote:Hello....

I'm fairly seriously considering this model, but I have quite a few questions as I am sure you can imagine!
Cheers,
Ian

Re: WMR88/100/200 support now in 1.9.2 beta
Can I chime in?
Was bought a WMR88 kit for my birthday and sat down this morning to try to get the software working.
Supplied software - utter crap. (Virtual Weather Station from Ambiebt - it isn't even a registered version, they expect me to pay for it!)
Oregon's own software - when you can eventually find it - simply doesn't recognise this unit.
So I'm scoping out shareware and other third party options.
So far Cumulus looks most promising. Per the thread I've installed it (1.9.2 1020) and set it to think it's talking to a WMR100. So far it's flashing "new record" and showing gree bars for the battery statusiz (three are still, one is showing a sort of swipe of green)
It has picked up internal temp/hum, wind speed and direction, and pressure. It hasn't picked up either outdoor sensors (I have a temp/hum on ch-2 and a pond-temp on ch-3 - ch1 is in use by an unrelated device). There's no sign of anywhere for it to show any data from the UV sensor.
The "recent extremes" need to be reset - it shows min temp of 999c and max of -500c!
The wind speed dial and direction dial both register - not sure what's supposed to show on the compass dial below wind-dir, nothing is.
WHAT I CAN'T WORK OUT is - is this s/w supposed to be able to download and store historical info from the WMR88? OS's bullet points imply you can connect to the unit just once a week rather than having to stay connected all the time, but I can't find anything about that on the Cumulus configs.
Oh - why can't I alt-Tab back from Cumuls to Firefox? Alt-Tab works for everything else...

Re: WMR88/100/200 support now in 1.9.2 beta
There's currently little support for 'extra' sensors other than to display the data values, and use one of them instead of the 'main' sensor. It assumes that channel 1 is the main out sensor unless you tell it otherwise. To do that edit cumulus.ini with Cumulus stopped and insert a line in the [Station] section:ccomley wrote:It has picked up internal temp/hum, wind speed and direction, and pressure. WMR200TempChannel=2
and then it will use channel 2 for the main sensor.
To display UV data and 'extra' data, turn on solar/extra data from the display settings.
Presumably because it hasn't been able to read any temperature data yet on the 'main' channel. The "recent extremes" need to be reset - it shows min temp of 999c and max of -500c!
It's a 'wind rose', it shows wind distribution; it needs to accumulate some data before it displays anything sensible. The wind speed dial and direction dial both register - not sure what's supposed to show on the compass dial below wind-dir, nothing is.
The WMR88 has no logger memory, you have to have a PC and software connected to it 24/7 or you will lose data.WHAT I CAN'T WORK OUT is - is this s/w supposed to be able to download and store historical info from the WMR88? Sorry, I've no idea. It works fine for me.Oh - why can't I alt-Tab back from Cumuls to Firefox? Alt-Tab works for everything else...

THanks for the feedback! I realised the supplied s/w also wanted the external sensor on Ch1 - but THAT doesn't appear to be tunable.
Thanks for confirming also that the unit does no internal logging.

Re: WMR88/100/200 support now in 1.9.2 beta
Great - have ext temp now and yes, it's reset the min/max. And I have the UV dta - presumably I do anyway, I'm expecting to see a reading on it about April!
The AltTab thing persists - though I know find if I to AltTabTab I can change back to firefox (or whatever) I can't see why the first tab is ignored or swalloed up.
Cheers.

The alt-tab thing may be something do with the 'minimise to tray' component that I use. If I get chance I'll do some experimenting, but TBH it's not something I want to spend a lot of time on.

Any way I can get the "Extra Channel 2" panel that alternates with the Solar panel to show Channel 3 instead? (or aswel?)
Cheers...

It should show data for all the extra channels that it receives. It's possible that the pond sensor doesn't send data in the same format. If you turn on the debug log, let it run for a few minutes and then attach the debug.log file, I'll have a look.

Wilco.
Running debug now - not seeing anything obvious... I wonder if the water temp sender only sends once an hour or something..? The WMR8 is showing a reading (8.5^c) but of course there's no way to tell how old the data is...
I'll let it run debug for a while...

Here's a goodly chunk of debug.
