Rain reset problem - yet another :(

I replaced the batteries in the FO transmitter earlier, which of course reset the rain counter.

When I restarted Cumulus (1.9.1 -989) the figures for todays rain and rate remained zero. I checked the diag log and Cumulus detected this and reset the counter in today.ini to -9.09 to compensate for the rain so far today.

Code: Select all

I closed Cumuls before checking the diag file (possibly a mistake), but on restarting it has ignored the -9.09 figure in the today.ini and started with zero.

So Cumulus is still reporting zero rainfall for today, and the today.ini start counter has indeed been reset from -9.09 to 0. Anyway out of this?

It's a bug, really. It uses a negative value for the start of day rain counter as the initial value, so it's confused itself by setting it negative. I think you'll have to wait until tomorrow and correct today's total retrospectively. Or tip the bucket sufficient times to put back the rain that you've effectively deleted by resetting the transmitter. But that has an effect on the rate etc, of course...

Thanks, I'd come to that conclusion myself. I'll correct it tomorrow. My pressure is now all over the place as the 'correction' changes every time I fully power down the console :( I'll have to buy a better station soon - maybe the WMR when Cumulus supports it.

I hope to have a better station soon as well - when I get round to sorting out and finishing off my own creation. But I shall be continuing to run the FO unit in tandem - running both G-Weather and Cumulus. I've got to sort out my computers - only Linux and Mac machines running ATM.
