Another update...

Changes:
- new pointer style TYPE9
- tick label format control
- first cut of a linear gauge type (still very incomplete)
- added optional popup data (my invention - not convinced!)

Probably, but it is a while off being ready. The linear gauges are far from fully functional, and what I have put up is just a 'play' page so that I (and other folks) can play around with the various options to see what is possible. The 'orrible code behind it is growing organically by the day!

Mark, it has been a while since I last posted a message in the forums - my Windows 7 crashed due to some needed system files getting corrupted after the download of an update of one of my registered software - it appears that a virus was 'accidentally' included into the update...

Just had a look at the gauges - very neat looking, indeed! As 'hinted' by Jim, it would be really, really nice if eventually in a future not too far a package containing all you hard work was released...

There was some mention of a more inclusive 'realtime+' type of file - I have been producing such a file (same format as the 'realtime.txt' file) containing a large number of the tags used by Cumulus - well, I am using only 206 tags to produce a 2,191 bytes file-size almost real-time 'realtimeextra.txt' file.

Author has now added separate LCD display components, I'm just using them for the status and timer for now. I may look at using them instead on the 'built-in' LCD panels in the linear gauges as they are a bit small.

Is the package open source, shareware, commercial, or what?

Open source, well the source is freely available (as with any JavaScript) but I think the author retains some rights.

The author is Gerrit Grunwald (http://harmoniccode.blogspot.com/) he developed them as Java components and is gradually porting them to HTML5 Canvas and JavaScript - I'm just helping him with some testing, suggestions, nags etc! The Java gauges are currently much more varied and configurable than the JavaScript versions.

He is posting the updates to the script on his blog every so often, I'm getting interim builds, almost daily! I have added some amendments into Gerrits library and have to re-apply these to each release to keep the extra functionality I need - this is mainly to drive changes on the demo page and some will not be required for production use.

Todays updates (though you may have already seen some of them):

• Added a 'canvas' status LED object for Remote Sensor Status
• Added single line LCD panels for status and timer
• Added multi line LCD panel to wind compass (shows current and previous values)
• Change status panel to display the forecast whilst waiting for the next update
• Some tweaks and tune ups in the gauge library

The LCD digital font was wrong before, I have changed it from Bold to UltraBold and it looks a bit better. I may have a play with a LCD 'dot matrix' font and see what that looks like.

Its great that we can now control the display of fonts in browsers rather than rely on what the end user has installed. Though I did notice that Chrome on my Windows XP box doesn't monospace the font quite right for some reason when exactly the same version of Chrome on Windows 7 does

Thanks Steve. Maybe not all the features would be used on a 'real page' but I want to demo what is possible.

I did have a thought that maybe people could play with the options and come up with pleasing combinations that they post, what is there now is just my stab at it. Obviously you cannot change the background 'sector' and scale 'area' colours on my page, but they are fully configurable. The linear gauges will also draw in a horizontal position too.
