I have tried to fit them into the 'standard' Cumulus web site format as a starting point, but feel free to alter to your needs. I have changed the layout on
my website.
Just like the templates Steve provides with Cumulus, most people modify them a little or a lot as they learn and get more confident. I'm not precious about what you do with them
You can also go back to my
demo page, and play around with the gauge 'look and feel' settings, find something that you like, and modify these scripts to that look. In fact I'd encourage people to do that so we don't all end up with identical looking gauges!
My english is too bad, I'm sorry.
Yes, I prefer layout like v0.5

- Reintroduced cache defeat on realtimegauges.txt GET (IE9 requirement)
- Added minimum ranges to barometer scale; 970-1040 hPa or 29.0-30.5 inHg
- Improved handling/gauge appearance of inHg and inches of rain units
- Improved temperature range handling; now C: -40 to +60, F: -30 to +130
- Updated steelseries.js:
- fix for small fonts on some browser/OS/driver combinations.
- added 'blinking' method to the sensor warning led.
- added variable number of decimals on fractional scales
Feedback welcome, but I will not be able to work on this again today.
In the new version(7a) Did all files change or just certain ones?
Sorry, I just realised just these 2 scripts changed.

I installed, but temp gauge range is only 30F to 100F?

Bob, the temp gauge will (should

) auto range between -30 and 130 F. The gauge will only display a 70 degree range at any one time.

Jim if you were a 'real' neat freak, then you would have no file installed into the root directory (or root folder) of your Web server.
I am a 'real' neat freak and the root directory of my Web servers has only two files, an 'index.html' and an '.htaccess' - that is it. Everything else is located into sub-directories (or sub-folders).
For example, my Cumulus-related files are located into the 'cumulus' directory, one level below the root directory. I then have number of sub-directories such as 'css', 'js', 'images' (just to name a few) one level below the 'cumulus' directory.
If you prefer to install all the template/file/CSS & JS scripts producing the page where the gauges are located (such as 'gauges-ss.htm') into the main directory (where all your other templates/files/scripts are located), then you will need to modify some of the path statements in the 'gauges-ss.htm' as well as in the 'gauges.js' and in the 'gauges-ss.css' files.
OK -- I guess I didn't explain myself clearly

-- I am not planning to put all the files in ONE big root folder -- I simply wanted the gauges-ss stuff in the same relative folders as the other Cumulus-related items (all htm pages together, all css in one \css subfolder, all scripts in one \scripts subfolder, etc.). I just want to eliminate the separate branch of /gauges-ss with its own /gauges-ss/css, gauges-ss/scripts, etc)

Thanks for the explanation and many thanks for your efforts on these very cool gauges!

Thanks Bob. It will be nice to see what different looks people can come with for their own implementations
Anyway another updated v0-8. This just sees some tidying and prettying really, so maybe we are getting close to a 1.0 release
- Updated ddimgtooltip.js & ddimgtooltip.css
- Moved all formating out to the CSS file (courtesy of Ray)
- Added rounded corners and slightly large graph image (courtesy of Ray)
- Updated realtimegaugesT.txt
- Added <#timeUTC> data
- Updated parseRealtime.js
- Added timeUTC handling
- Updated gauges.js
- Added functionality to display error message, and flash status LED if the data is 'stale' because the realtime file is not updating.
- Added string LANG.led_title_offline
- Added g_stationOfflineTimeout variable to determine offline limit
This page is already running on this code if you want a peek.

I've spotted some 'issues' with v0-8 Farenheit gauges (no coloured sectors unless the range changes, I forgot to change one bit of code), and the Inches Rain Rate gauge (the scale is only 1 decimal place should be two - a typo

) I'll fix these problems tomorrow.
Anyone done any 'custom' colour schemes yet?

Regarding the Rain Rate for Imperial sites -- I suggest using only 1 decimal point, but set the default gauge for a 0 to 1.0 inches/hour rate. The superfine resolution is really not needed.

Jim, what about the rain total, start that with a 0.0 - 1.0 inch range too? I was using 0.5 in as the metric gauges have a start range of 0 - 10 mm. Anybody else have a view on the ranges?

Just a comment. I am noticing that in the FireFox browser, the "refresh countdown box" the 1st digit is not displayed only the 2nd digit. IE: 23seconds show only 3 seconds. In Chrome and IE9 the box shows perfectly. Is this just a nuance of the FF browser?

I am happy with 0.0 to 1.0 inch as the starting rainfall range.

Bob, which version of Firefox are you using? Have you made any modification to either the 'gauges-ss.htm' or the 'gauges.js' file?
I have finally moved to version 5.0 (after tweaking a few extensions) and the timer is showing both digits. I also played with the zoom function of the browser and the size of the characters used for the digits did not change. I have tested after deactivating the digital font and, again, the timer was showing both digits.
But Firefox has not been the best browser to display correctly the gauges - it seems their support of HTML5 is not yet fully compliant to the sandard - in my tests, Google Chrome has been the only browser to give consistent results.
If you are interested in doing some testings, here is a modification you could try - please remember, thought, that the file you are about to modify will be overwritten with the next update of the gauges script.
Hopefully you do have an editor such as
Notepad++ (a very popular freeware and very versatile editor) - I am going to use Notepad++ to make the following modifying the script.
IMPORTANT: Before you make any modification to any of the the script, it is
STRONGLY suggested that you make a backup copy of the file 'gauges.js' which you are about to modify.
Start Notepad++ and browse (look for) the file 'gauges.js' - if you have installed the gauges using the default settings (and paths), the file 'gauges.js' should be in the 'scripts' directory inside the 'gauges-ss' directory. Once you have the file 'gauges.js' loaded, go to line 276:
Code: Select all
width : (g_count.toString().length * 13) + (LANG.timer.length * 6),
replace the 13 with 23
Code: Select all
width : (g_count.toString().length * 23) + (LANG.timer.length * 6),
This modification will increase the width of the count-down timer display. Please post your comments/results concerning the suggested modification. Thanks.
