WH3080 Sorted

Post by robynfali »

Ok, so after the initial delivery, which sadly had a faulty solar sensor, Signatrol very quickly despatched a new one to me, without me having to send the original back!!

Anyway, all set up this morning and working PERFECTLY...but

On the Display the "light" level is reading

127.2klux

on Cumulus & my webpage it is reading 124107.0

It's possible that I've got the decode wrong, but as my figure is so close to the console, that seems unlikely. If you turn on the debug log, the hex data gets logged to it. You'll need to tell me what the console was showing at the times corresponding to one or more of the 'solar data' entries in the debug log. The problem will be that the figure presumably changes quite often, so this might prove difficult.

Are you consistently getting roughly the same difference?

At the start of the log, your raw solar data was:

0018.437 : 13:32:43Solar Data: 76 40 12 09

The UV value is in the 4th byte, and the lux figure is the first three bytes (least significant byte first) divided by 10. So this data is

UV = 9
Lux: Hex 124076 = 1196150, so Lux = 119615.0 = 119.6 klux

After a short while, it changed to:

0058.156 : 13:33:23Solar Data: B4 60 12 09

Hex 1260B4 = 1204404, so Lux = 120440.4 = 120.4 klux

What was Cumulus actually showing at that point rather than 120440.4?

Cumulus display is showing same as the web page, a 6 figure rather than 3 figure sum, so the above would have been on the program as well as the website

But what was the 6 figure sum displayed? 120440.4 or something else? 120440.4 Lux is the correct figure. It's the same (when rounded) as 120.4 kLux.

Ahhhh I think I know where the problem lies then, the display shows klux, but the website shows it as lux only, so I need to show that on the website

As for the exact figure at that time I don't know I am sorry but cumulus was showing it as lux rather than klux

Yes, the station measures and supplies the value in Lux (to one decimal place), so Cumulus displays it in Lux (to one decimal place).

So roughly speaking when the station is reading 120 and the website is showing 120000, it is in fact correct!!

Sorry Steve

Yes. If displaying the full figure isn't useful, and it would be better if it displayed it in kLux like the console, I can change it. Or perhaps better still, make it an option.
