New Memeber and Weather site

Post by mg66 »

Hey All.

New member and new to Cumulus but not new to PWSs.

Originally from Adelaide South Australia and now living in the Central Mid-West, USA. Adelaide weather was quite boring, you know, beautiful one day, perfect the next sort of thing. Now here in the Mid-West we get winters, below freezing with snow and ice and summers, in the high 90s+ and almost tropical humidity. On top of that especially in the spring and fall there is severe weather including thunderstorms, huge hail and tornadoes, not to mention freezing rain and floods.

My original PWS was an OS WMR-968 using Virtual Weather Station. Due to a server crash and losing all my data I rebuilt my server and decided to a Davis Vantage Pro2 with Daytime Only Solar Fan Aspiration. The WMR-968 held up well for almost 5 years, btw.

After a frustrating couple of days trying to get VWS working correctly with my Vantage Pro2 I stumbled upon Cumulus and within less than an hour my PWS / Cumulus and weather website were all up and running again. Cumulus is definitely a great bit of software.

So hopefully I can learn here and maybe even pass something along, well maybe.

Photography is another hobby and recently purchased a lightning trigger to see if I cant get some half decent photos seeing thunderstorms are a dime a dozen in this neck of woods.

Also toying with the idea of becoming a trained weather spotter if I can bring the missus around :)

Well that's it and my weather site is at MetroMain PWS Weather

Nice area around Crafers. Already checked out your web cam :) I was born and raised in the Plympton Park area, straight down Cross Road from where you are.

Yes it does. Nothing like waiting for tornado sirens to stop.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.
