Ambient Weather WS-2080

Post by Gulfcoast »

I simply could not afford a Davis weather station, so I spent a couple of months searching for another rig that would let me connect it to my computer.

I found the Ambient WS-2080 rig at a really good price, plus the replacement parts are really priced low, if needed later.

I should have it in my hands in just a few days now. Any positive comments or suggestions of help will be very appreciated.

Thanks :)

I have one that I bought almost a year ago. It is a real good unit for the money. Did you buy the large solar shield? If not you will either need to build one or keep it in the shade

The best piece of advice I can give you is to got to a store like Lowes and buy you one of those green metal garden fence post. Now you can move the post from place to place until you find the best location with the least interference.

Don't worry about collecting data from day one. Keep in mind you will almost surely get some bad data as you experiment.

Do a search on rain gauge mods.

I bought the large shield and will install a 12-volt computer fan in it before mounting it on the pole. I've had a 5-watt solar panel for years and never used it... now I can put it to use.

Thanks for the reply... neighbor. :)
