Celsius is useful for low temps. -10 sounds a lot colder than 14F. But Fahrenheit is better for high ones. How often do you see "Britain swelters as temps hit 32"? Far more likely to be "Britain swelters as temps hit 90".

As I sit here with an outside temp of 52F (11C) I can only dream of such a headline!

Yup, we all love the headline--"Phew, what a scorcher, as temp hits 80 degs". Usually, with a picture of Brighton beach.

Metric / Imperial? I still prefer imperial for linear measurement, but was taught both metric and imperial at school and in my trade so can relate to both.

In AU we have been metric for many many years now.

But, you go into a hardware store and find that the majority of bolts and screws are still imperial (BSW - British Standard Whitworth). And the plumbing suppliers have a problem, they and call 1/2"(12.7mm) 15mm, 3/4"(19.05mm) 20mm, 1"(25.4mm) 25mm (he, they got close with that one), 1 1/4"(31.75) 32mm (Getting closer) and 1 1/2"(38.1) 40mm (Way off), so on it goes. Talk about putting a square peg into a round hole. And don't get me started on BSW versus UNC with threads, Another pet hate........

Cars engines - metric.

Bananas - bunches you idiot !

And last but not least wood. Priced in metric and supplied imperial. What, cant be u say. Bought any 6*4 fence panels lately?
