FOSCAM FI8905 update and Yawcam

Post by rayauger »

Hi everybody,

Just a quick update on my experience with Foscam Ip camera.

Again it is a cheap camera and I got what I paid for. The camera is running fine but color sucks esp. foliage which is really sepia instead of green. The other weakness is the white balance is not very good if light varies quite a bit during the day. You pretty much have to do manual setting using FOSCAM embedded software.

The good news is I got Yawcam to connect to the camera. I got the solution in this forum, thanks to a poster. In Yawcam, the URL to the camera must be as follow:

http://192.168.2.4/videostream.cgi

( obviously the numbers will change depending on your own set-up, it is basically your private IP the computer is using to connect to the camera )

Yawcam also make it very easy to ftp, http and live stream your camera. Yawcam will provide you with the URL for the outside world to click on. It is under the Help menu : 'What's my URL'

So if you want to see my live streaming camera the link is:

http://184.162.198.69:8080

NOw for the color, I haven't tried to improve them by either changing the lens to one that would have a IR cut-off filter or just put such filter. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

Enjoy

Maybe I am not aware of it but I dont think I can change color parameters on a Foscam. If you think I can, please let me know, I will give it a try right away

I will be honest mate, i am not sure, I would have thought there would have been "device properties" somewhere, but it could be that it's not an option with that camera?
