I am new to the weather club. I have just purchased a WH1080 and am trying to get my realtime data on a to a free website but have not got a clue how to do it. I have set up my website but don't know how to get my realtime data on it.
I am using the latest version of Cumulus
any help on how to upload to a website would be appreciated, as you see i'm a novice at this but pretty exciting watch the data.

Can you be more specific about what you've done already and what you're trying to do? When you say you've set up your web site, do you mean you have a 'standard' Cumulus web site working (e.g.
http://sanday.org.uk/weather/), and when you say you want to get your realtime data onto the web site, do you mean you want to set up the Silverlight Cumulus Realtime application (e.g.
http://sanday.org.uk/weather/realtime.htm)?

No I don't have cumulus website. I have one with webeden.co.uk. But looking at your reply is making me think I have made a right arse of it lol.
I want to post my data onto a website. I saw a guy with his data on
http://www.elmnet-weather.net/ and updated every 10mins. I hope I have made myself a little clearer. I am totally new to this and as you can see still a novice.
cheers

You need to look in the help at the section 'Creating a web site', and here in the wiki:
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Website_setup
Once you've looked at those, you will probably have some questions, so do come back and ask them

I've had a quick look at webeden, and it seems they only offer 'site builder' type hosting for free, i.e. no ftp access, so they're not suitable for hosting a Cumulus web site.

There's a list of known suitable hosting in the wiki -
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Webspace - but as you can see the 'free' section is currently bare. Typically, free hosting imposes severe restrictions on what you can host, how frequently you can upload etc. I'm sure some people must be using free hosting successfully for Cumulus, but no-one has so far updated the wiki to say so.

I just installed my weather station yesterday. Its a WS1080. (Same hardware as W8681) I found three free sites to broadcast on:
1. Weather underground-
http://www.wunderground.com/swf/Rapid_F ... =KPAHOMER2
2. PWS weather-
http://www.pwsweather.com/obs/KPAHOMER2.html
2. CWOP-
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?call=DW7676
Notes:
1. Once you register with weather underground, you can use the same station number with PWS weather. CWOP reguires you to register a new station. Enter this information on the config/internet page of cumulus software.
2. Barometer- If you go to my weather station, and see a rapid drop in my barometer, no it did not crash. (and there was no tornado) I calibrated it this morning as it was reading .8 inhg too high.
Comment to Cumulus staff- When I recieved the unit it was recommended to use YOUR software vs the easy weather software provided. I do like it. I'm finding it difficult to install a gadget on my desktop (using windows 7) or finding a way to broadcast my weather station with your site. Don't you have any links for "click and install"? I'm not smart enough for script writing or editing.
Also would love to donate. What is the conversion to US dollar?

Yes, a lot of people use these. One problem with these sites is that you're constrained to the format of the sites concerned. Many people like to have their own sites as well as those, so that they have more control over how the site looks.

Regarding the gadget (or any other add-ons written by other people), you need to ask whoever wrote it for help (in the relevant thread). I just do Cumulus
Can you clarify what you mean by "finding a way to broadcast my weather station with your site"?

Currently, 1 of our British Pounds is about 1.60 of your US dollars.

Regarding the gadget. Is there a click and install program for this? I tried your .zip file and even renamed it .gadget. It doesn't install. It just opens the file showing me the zipped files. I don't see a .exe file.
Broadcasting on your site: I gather from what I'm reading, I need to find a site to broadcast on? Then cumulus will will reconzie my weather station? I wanted to get on your cumulus weather map. It looked like western Pa was a little bare for weather stations.
Donation is on the way.

I'm afraid I know nothing about it, I didn't write it, a Cumulus user did. You'll need to ask them. But as far as I know, Windows 7 gadgets are indeed "click and install". It sounds like you may have extensions hidden in Windows and so the file still has a .zip extension.

You could still be on the map and use your Weather Underground site (for example) for the URL; a number of people who don't have their own sites link to their WU data from the map.

No such luck. Kevin Reed from Tnet replied: "wunderground is not a valid URL for a personal weather station on the
Cumulus user list. Please resubmit with a personal weather station URL."

OK. Stupid question. Why can't I use my desktop computer to host my weather station? Are there security measues to prevent hacking in these cases? I have 200 GB of space available. How much room would someone need?
Ok you can start

me!

Oh, that's strange. I'm sure that others use WU as their link, and I don't have a problem with that. As long as the data is provided by Cumulus; some cheeky people have used the map in the past to link to sites for other software! I'll have a word with Kevin.
