Wind bearing can read 400 degrees

Post by 1113562 »

We have a our weather station mounted high up on a mast that is not easy to get to. During the winter we had a storm that spun the whole thing around by about 40 degrees. No problem I thought i'll correct using the calibration offset in Cumulus. This worked fine but find that in certain wind directions it will display values >360 degrees. e.g. 400 degrees. I found that it seemed to be because I was using a negative offset. When I replace by a large positive offset i.e. go clockwise to get to the same correct value it seems to be ok but i don't know if this works for all wind directions. This must be a simple bug in the maths for this to happen, no way should it be possible to have bearings other than 0 to 360.

What version of Cumulus are you using? The current code looks correct to me, so I suspect you are using an old version (which may have had the bug you're experiencing).

Hi Steve,

Its running 1.9.0 so it is quite up to date. I know you have released 1.9.1 recently but you would have known if you amended this area of code.

Cheers,

John

1.9.0 is old (at least 9 months old), and no longer supported.

I've done hundreds of changes, I can't/don't keep track of them all. But as I said, the current code (i.e. 1.9.1) looks correct, so presumably I fixed the bug at some point during the development of 1.9.1.

OK Steve,

I'll load the latest when I'm next at the club - thanks.

PS I also have post re CumulusRealtime (Live View!!) I downloaded firefox and that seems to work so it looks like an IE9 Windows 7 problem. At the moment my weatherstation is flatlining (since 6am this morning) so I have problem between the weather station and the computer but that is the random unreliable event that occasionally springs up. When you are 30 miles away its not always easy to pop down and fix it. Anyway I'm getting closer to the problem.

Cheers,

John
