I have just noticed that if I shut cumulus down my daily wind run total resets to zero
this may have been happening for a long time but i seem to remember the total being incremented over the day
its not really something i take a lot of notice off normally but it has me interested now
I cant find any settings to enable incremental counting or much mention in the FAQs
so any comments would be appreciated
Neil

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
Wind run (and average temperature) are recalculated once a minute (on the minute), and get saved and restored from today.ini over restarts. Is yours still zero after a new minute has started?

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
hello Steve
Bit odd I shut down and restarted this time it pulled the previous reading in ok
when i tried it earlier it stayed at zero then started clocking up from the restart onwards without any problem
I am not unduly worried about it just curious to know how it works
I noticed this once before & suspect it could have been caused after windows forced a shut down
I have just upgraded to windows 7 from XP and thought my lack of knowledge on win 7 would most likely by the cause
all seems fine at the moment thanks for the response

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
It does look like you have 'lost' some wind run; you're currently showing about 20 miles, but it looks from your graphs like you've been averaging about 4 mph or so since midnight, so you would expect more than double that.
It could well be something to do with Windows 7 - what folder have you installed Cumulus in?

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
As per the win 7 instructions you posted I installed to the root of my HDD C:/cumulus
as I said its a bit odd because all the other cumulative data seems to be fine
the problem seems a little intermittent & very infrequent but as its not really critical data its not the end of the world
just tried another shut down & restart & again the data came back ok

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll see if I can see what might be going wrong. It's clearly picking up your today.ini file OK, because some of your highs and lows are from earlier today.

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
I can't see anything unusual in there, and it's finding the today.ini file OK. From your latest figures, the current wind run value looks reasonable and could well be correct. Are you sure that when you saw it at zero it wasn't just because a new minute hadn't started so it hadn't been updated yet? What was the first figure it displayed when it changed from zero?

Re: wind run resets to zero on restart
Cant remember the exact figures but i seem to remember it being in excess of 20 then it restarted at zero and counted up again
i have not been able to reproduce the error again despite repeated starts and stops
think it may have to go down as one of those things that occur sometimes
but i do appreciate your efforts thanks
