A word on the demise of my hosting service

Talk about anything that doesn't fit elsewhere - PLEASE don't put Cumulus queries in here!

There are some companies that will sell you very cheap domain registrations and hosting and it is only when you decide to move the hosting elsewhere that you get around to reading the fine print that states that the registration company/hoster actually own the domain name and not you.
It may be that which I read. Buyer beware!

Bit of an Underbelly then?

It is OZ speak, probably more Melbourne than anything.
'It's a jungle out there' is the title of the theme music of 'Underbelly' an Aussie TV mini series

That's OK, then--I thought it might have been rude.

It's actually the word(s) from a song used as a theme.
Punctuation is the difference between 'Let's eat, grandma' and 'Let's eat grandma'

RayProudfoot wrote:Hi David,

Despite my site being hosted by Dreamhost (oh the irony!!) I was not affected by their shutdown.

Whilst I'm very thankful I am a bit mystified why I wasn't affected. If you can throw some light on my situation I'd be very grateful. Am I living on borrowed time? :(
Ray

Your site was never on DreamHost and you are still on my own server space -- you were never on the DreamHost offering so you were not affected. I still have six live sites from my original setup.

Also, re:domains -- I may have registered a domain on your behlaf but it is always yours and you are free to move it around as you please. (just to clear that up).
