Incorrect dates fix?
Hi,
I had the previous version of Cumulus installed on a PC running Windows XP and following upgrading of the PC pre installed with Windows 7 I took the opportunity and installed the latest version of Cumulus. I took account of the date formatting for Windows 7 but this had a conflict with the way dates were being displayed in another programme (MS Money) so I reverted back to the English formatting.
Accordingly the dates being displayed http://claxton.me/weather/trends.htmare somewhat out of kilter. Is there a work around so I can have the correct dates displayed in Cumulus?
Thanks

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
I'm not sure what you mean by this:
And when you say:
If you were running with US settings for a while for some reason, then you may have some incorrectly formatted dates in the Cumulus data files; you should be able to spot them and correct them with Cumulus stopped. Your daily rain graph certainly suggests a problem with the dates in dayfile.txt.
What exactly did you do?I took account of the date formatting for Windows 7
And when you say:
Were you not using English formatting on XP? As you're in the UK, I would assume that you were using UK settings on XP, and you want to use the same on Windows 7?so I reverted back to the English formatting.

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
Thanks Steve
I followed https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2837 namely
1) Open Regional and Language Options
2) Under "Format" pick anything else. (eg: English (United States)).
3) Press "Apply"
4) Under "Format" pick your desired locale (eg: English (United Kingdom)).
5) Press OK
Indeed under XP the format settings were English and I would wish to maintain the same under Windows 7. However as you surmise for a period the formatting was "English (United States)"
I have had a look at the dayfile.txt which I have attached. I switched to Windows 7 last month, 17 April, and I see from the last line of the dayfile that the date is shown as 31/12/99. Would a simple solution be to delete that line without messing up the historic data too much? Or failing that could I manually correct the entries in the dayfile - but which ones?
Thanks

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
Yes, deleting that last line in dayfile.txt may well sort things out, because you already have an entry for the 6th. You also need to check your May log file to see if any dates in there have been affected.

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
Steve,
I have deleted the line 31/12/99. Also checked the May log file but there are no unusual date entries.
The problem is still there - in fact the rain fall of this morning has disappeared from the web but shows on Cumulus as being yesterday!

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
I think perhaps that the Windows 7 date format thing is a red herring. It looks like you had a 'rollover' problem, possibly as a result of the clock on your PC doing something strange - hence the 31/12/99 date in dayfile.txt.
If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll see if I can see what happened. The solution will probably be to 'rewind' using one of the backups from the Cumulus backup folder.

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
Yes, the clock on your PC apparently reset to 1st Jan 2000 at 00:00 for a short period, which completely confused Cumulus:
07/05/2011 14:10:00.894 : Writing today.ini, LastUpdateTime = 07/05/2011 14:10:00 raindaystart = 258 rain counter = 261

Perhaps this was around the time you were changing your settings?
Anyway, whatever the cause, the simplest solution is to stop Cumulus and copy the files from the backup folder that was created when you started Cumulus here:
07/05/2011 07:25:19.263 : Cumulus 1.9.1 Build 989 startup
Copy the files into the data folder and start Cumulus again. Should fix everything.

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
Steve,
Thanks but that didn't seem to fix the dates shown in the Trends; Rain & Temp.
Would it be possible to use the data from the previous version of Cumulus 1.9.0? Attached is the the zipped backup file of the data from the XP PC which ran that version of Cumulus.

You have another line in dayfile.txt with a date of 31/12/99:

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
I seem to have acquired a ‘future’ Lowest Apparent Temperature for August 2011 of all months. I started Cumulus on 31 August last year, 2010.
I have looked in the Dayfile.txt and alltime but can’t find an entry so I guess that I am in the worng area. Grateful for a pointer as to which file I need to check.

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
The all-time records are in alltime.ini, you can either edit that with Cumulus stopped, or use the built-in editor.
I suspect you've had that entry for a while, given how low the temperature is.

Re: Incorrect dates fix?
Steve,
Yes I guess it has been there since May (this year
)
With Cumulus stopped using the Toolbox I deleted the date and time entry "03/08/2011 06:49:00" and with Cumulus restarted I ran the All time record editor and Fetch log data. So somewhere along the lines I’ve messed up. What I also achieved has been to change the previous records for Rain (attached), Wind, Humidity and Pressure. Is there a simple way for a budding Luddite to rectify this?

I don't understand what you want to do. Can you not use those entries fetched from dayfile.txt in the editor?
