Guys,

I've lost my instructions for the maplin fine offest weather station, and due to relocating the shed it the sensors were attached to took the opportunity to replace the batteries, and now I'm not receiving any data. I'm sure I need to "pair" up the two devices some how.. but can't remember the set up procedure

Help me out please !

Or http://www.timetec.freeserve.co.uk/DCF/dcf_005.htm

"It is much easier to register the transmitter inside, than at the top of a ladder !

Have to hand 5 x AA 1.5V cells - lithiums are highly reccommend & worth the extra cost.
A compass nearby will be a help, for getting a SE / NW rudimentary bearing.

1/ Insert 2 x cells into the receiver (leave the third cell out for now)

2/ With the transmitter well away from a computer / TV or flourescent lights, facing the right direction, insert 2 cells. The red LED on the rear, will light continuously for 4 seconds.

3/ Approx 7 seconds later, the LED will blink once for just 20ms

4/ After a further 8 seconds, the LED should blink 5 times at 1 second intervals.
this is confirmation that the DCF signal has been recognised - but NOT decoded.

5/ Wait for 30 seconds and then insert the 3rd battery into the reciever base unit.
'A00' will appear in the 'date' section plus a 4 digit number in the LCD 'pressure' section..

6/ Within 5 minutes the DCF time & date should appear of the base station display, as will
the indoor temperature & humidity - all outdoor readings will show as dashes : -- -- -- --

7/ Now take the transmitter plus base unit outside and plug in the wind & rain sensors.
Within 2 minutes, all readings should be correctly displayed on the LCD display.

8/ If there are any problems with DCF reception at (4), repeat the whole procedure, but
wait for 10 seconds before each refitting of the batteries to the transmitter unit"

To double check I've re-inserted the batteries, got a red light from the LED which stayed on for a few seconds, but there is no wind speed / direction, outside temps being displayed on the base unit

Now the unit is receiving data I'm having a few problems with the base unit.

I've always had problems with the touch screen, and seem to remember setting the date and time via software on the PC - I'm guessing easyweather, unless Cumulus can now do that ?

Any ideas ?

Thats good to hear that you are now receiving data - sorry to hear about the time issues.

Cumulus has no functionality to change or edit any settings on the console - you can change the settings using either the touch screen or use Easy Weather.

You can't change the date and time using (any) software, you have to use the console.

Only if you're bothered about the console showing the date and time. Cumulus doesn't use the console clock.

 thank you Steve - I thought it might be using the consol time to log data....

The temp sensor hopefully will be kept in the shade, possibly it may be struck by direct sunlight for a while, but when the hedge grows back a bit I might be lucky :) - at least it won't be reading temperatures like it did before the move (I know yesterday was warm, but 38C !!) when it was in direct sunlight !

That's much better Malcolm :) The rain gauge is best near the ground but it looks like you might find that difficult. I'm lucky, I have a nice clear area both for the weather sensors and observatory. Photos of my setup are on my weather website - see sig.
