Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
Cracking idea, the only thing is bandwidth, the two videos on there, are not hosted by me, so each time they are viewed it doesn't affect my bandwidth.
What timing have you got set for pictures

Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
accidently set mine today to take 1 a minute, so the end result is going to be about 280mb, should be ok if i make the movie and then compress it a little

Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
Its the same situation with mine, my images are hosted on my website, so if you view them it doesn't affect my download limit. I only have to ftp them to my website once.robynfali wrote:Cracking idea, the only thing is bandwidth, the two videos on there, are not hosted by me, so each time they are viewed it doesn't affect my bandwidth.

I currently have my uploads set at 300 seconds, but that is 300 seconds since the last one finished uploading so it would come out at a little above 300 seconds (especially if the upload was slow
EDIT: I should add it was TNETweather that advised me how to do this. His instructions are on his website. Check it out as he has done it really well: http://cumulus.tnetweather.com/webcam

Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
Ok, so here is another test, dawn til dusk, over 960 images, with a filesize of around 163mb, one taken every minute, played at a framerate of 24fps, resulting video size is 18mb.
With the video size being so small, i was wondering if taking pictures any quicker, would make much difference, i do realise that it means a larger disk space for the pictures (not TOO much of a problem) and a larger video size (no problem), but would you actually BENEFIT out of it

Oh, btw, the black dots are the bloody crows!

Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
Well, i have set up tomorrows, for 15 second intervals, so that should be about 3600 images, maybe 400mb file size & 60ish mb video size, just see if there is any noticeable difference
Think I am lucky with this logitech, no lens needed now, haven't even got the spare sunglasses lens in front of it, the software is handling everything

Mine captures around 2240 Images in the set 20hr Period taking up on average 55mb excluding Timelapse Videos which if I include them brings it upto 80mb.
All being well, I should be uploading the Video's for today after 11pm.
So far... Really Pleased with YawCam and the Timelapse Software!

Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
few minor glitches in mine, toward the evening it steps back a few times for some reason, but overall as a one off, not too bad, especially in the afternoon, it does look like a streaming video. Won't be doing it again in a hurry tho, going to set it back to four or five minutes now 3900 images and a file size of 86mb (and 30 minute upload time!!!)
might be worth letting it completley buffer before watching

Yeah I noticed a couple - I get those too, not sure why. I also get a few orange/red images per day - normally when the light is changing (Ie Day to Night).robynfali wrote:few minor glitches in mine, toward the evening it steps back a few times for some reason, but overall as a one off, not too bad, especially in the afternoon, it does look like a streaming video. Re: Timelapse Software / Setup
Have you guys used yawcam's built in "images to movie" function under the file tab? I have started playing with it saving images every minute. Are there any advantages or extra functionality with the software you're using?
Here's what today looks like using it (unfortunately not a particularly exciting day though)

I used it once, but having to select the files individually sort of turned me away from it, especially if like me, your doing one every 4 minutes or so
