I am now pondering a one off, of 1 shot every second, then run at run it at 24fps
Thanks :) That was my thinking also - Not too quick but then not too slow - I'm still to decide if its worth time-lapsing 24/7 and if not how to set it up to only Timelapse between say 4am and 11pm (To account for Dawn, Dusk etc)

I look forward to seeing that!

I have just taken what i have of todays 4 minute interval shots, and run them at 24fps, and it looks pretty good, although damn short lol, lasts maybe 10 seconds, so if I change the settings tonight, then run it at 1 shot per second tomorrow, chuck it all together tomorrow night at 24fps, i think it would look pretty good, nice little one off project anyway, might take a while to do tho, 86400 photos, around 123mb (if i calculated correctly), can't do it all the time, but certainly worth a one off go

Yeah I'd agree with that! I'd like to see the last timelapse video you made, would you be able to upload it youtube please?

I think one of issues we face is getting a fine balance between quality, length and visual awareness.

Thanks! I like the speed and the quality!

I'm thinking it might be worth me doing both! A quick review of last 24hrs at that speed (Like wUnderground but in much better quality and size) and the longer timelapse as well.

What do you think?

I am not convinced by the 24hr previous from Wunderground, i might just turn that into a link, the quality is very poor from them, so doing your own is probably a better idea.

minor hitch....well actually a MAJOR one to this idea!!

I miscalculated, dramatically so, the actual size (based on 1 image being 198kb (average)) with 24hrs of 1 second photos will be 16gb.

I need to SERIOUSLY rethink this!

that would take it to 1.6gb

really speaking, 160mb at the most would be ideal, so maybe one image every 120-140 seconds is more than enough?

going to change the settings in a minute on mine, so when it starts up at 5am, will record all tomorrows at 2 min intervals (maybe a LITTLE less)

Okay, I'm thinking of trying to get it to Store images from around 3am until 11pm to cover Sunrise, Sunsets etc

I just have mine set from 5am to 10pm at the moment, plenty enough to capture both, might have to change it to a bit later, see how it goes

Very interesting thread!!

Just so this thread can be used as a repository for timelapse info: If you'd like to compare this with another product, have a look at http://www.maani.us/xml_slideshow/

This is what I use to create my "replay 3 hrs", replay 24 hrs" and "display motion" sections on my webpage: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~storerfa ... amauto.php

Each time you select these options, PHP scripts automatically look to see what jpg files are available and them builds them into a slideshow. This way if a file is missing in the sequence or deleted while your viewing it, you can recreate the slideshow just by pressing F5.

I also use this on my webcam page itself so if "image.000" is missing for some reason it will use image.001. This has resolved Yawcam's occasional ftp upload failures.

The downside is this is a licensed product that will cost you about $50 AUS or about 30ish pounds.
