New Station and Website

I've been a member here for almost 12 months. My website has been up and running for much of this time.

I have now set up a station and website (hosted by daj - thanks David) for a local school where I work. The website is currently a standard Cumulus set of pages. Another teacher and I are planning for students to become involved in developing the website over the coming months and for students in their studies to use the data collected by the station in a variety of subjects. Data use and examination is a key component in a number of learning areas.

Our community is a rural dryland farming community and rainfall and weather are very much a key component of community and economic life. We plan to promote the website within the community.

http://lrcs.localweatherview.net is the web address of the new site. The new station is located around 63 km (39 miles) as the crow flies, from Karoonda Weather (my site).

Just found this great calculator: http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html

Exact distance between Karoonda Weather and LRCS Weather is 63.36 km at a bearing of 115°18′56″

Also gives Google Map

Hi TJ.

nice site. wonder if its generating much interest within the school and the wider community?

One of my interests is 'data processing' . Have you had a look at the '3rd party' Datasummary generator by DAJ?

It generates a yearly summary from the dayfile.txt file Its easy to set up and looks great.

Its also very easy to grab the data in a spreadsheet (copy/paste). Once thei, r the world is your playschool :)

It should be of interest to any maths class especially as its a real data set.

All the best from Liverpool, UK
