23 views and no replies lol, am taking a look at it myself, not from a wunderground point of view, just home, have done all the setup, its not friendly if you want to run it on your pc, and the cumulus is running on another, also I am not able to change the coordinates in the location either? maybe this is just something you can change with a purchased licence of it?

No that I know - the data can be obtain for a local METAR or from a personal weather station once the weather software has processed a template file to create the YoWindow required data file.

How about processing the template file through Cumulus, uploading the file to your web site and the setting up YoWindow to get the required data file from your web site...

I registered my version of YoWindow way back when it was still under development, so, I cannot remember what additional benefits are available when YoWindow is registered.

At first, I used YoWindow as a screensaver but after a while, I stopped it - it was using way too much CPU power ... even on an Intel Core2 Quad CPU computer ... because the animation software YoWindow is built on take way too much CPU power...

I still have/use YoWindow on my [link removed]... :|

Hello.
I am the author of YoWindow.
Sorry to be late - I was not aware about this post.
Let me answer today, I hope somebody will find it useful.

No, YoWindow is not able to display the weather from Weather Underground directly.
We did not provide Weather Underground support because they do not give away the weather data.
However you can setup YoWindow to take the weather from Cumulus.

From the first day we have decided to make YoWindow as much free as we could.
There are only 2 limitations:
1. 3 day weather forecast (6 - 10 days in Unlimited)
2. 1 animated landscape - Village (2 more landscapes are available in Unlimited)
There are no more difference!
Most our users (there are more than 500,000) prefer free edition and only a small fraction actually buys the software.

The price is very low - $10. Most screen-savers on the market cost more $20.
We want as many people as possible to enjoy YoWindow.

YoWindow is built on top of Flash technology.
Unfortunately Flash inherently is not able to utilise GPU power.
We have spent a lot of time optimizing YoWindow, making it as fast possible as we could.
The recommended hardware for YoWindow is Pentium 1.8GHz.
If it still runs slow, make sure there is no other software running in the background.

We have also written a short recommendations to people who are still working on slow computers.
http://yowindow.com/help.php#q4

We did not think anyone would need to change location coordinates, sorry.
As a workaround pick a closest place to your home.
There would not be much difference in the picture.
If you cannot find your place in YoWindow.
You can request it on our forum and I will add it shortly.

And you can certainly get the your cumulus weather in the widget.
Here is the tutorial.
By the way YoWindow weather widget is absolutely free, you can use it wherever you like forever.

Synewave, we have opened YoWindow to the public 1.5 years ago.
This is the first time I see such a comment about our little project.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread but i'm trying to get yowindow and my PWS working with Cumulus. I have a yowindow.xml file here www.waterfordcityweather.com/yowindow.xml I am getting an error on line 10 at column 32: Entity 'deg' not defined. The yowindow is in sync with my station here www.waterfordcityweather.com/wxyowindow.php but not in Metric. I have set it to Metric in settings. Are there any fixes for this problem? Thanks in advance

Hey Mick!

I have noticed an error in your XML.
There is an unnecessary slash at the end of opening temperature tag.
I have highlighted it in red.
Try to remove it and let me know the results.

<temperature unit="°C"/>
<current value="10.0"/>
<feels_like value="9.8"/>
</temperature>

Pasha, have you noticed any improvement since the release of FP11 which does now support GPU acceleration?

Of course!
But, unfortunately GPU accelarated features would require us to rewrite whole YoWindow.
Under the hood FP 11 requires the source code to be written in completely new philosophy.
There is no way to significantly improve old Flash content.

Clean your browser cache.
YoWindow is reflecting the weather from your Cumulus stations now :)

The XML is still badly formed because of the "°C" not being escaped. Shouldn't you just be using "C"? (webtag = <#tempunitnodeg>)
