avg wind formula?

avg wind formula?

Im wondering how is average wind direction/bearing calculated, what is the formula?

It takes the wind direction and speed for the last 10 minutes (or other interval as configured), calculates the sums of the N/S and E/W vector components, divides the E/W component sum by the N/S component sum, and takes the arctan.
