Cumulus Support

Hello !

I'm not able to run Cumulus Beta (1.9.1)... it crashes right after starting (but only when I give him the correct COM port).. tried to use COM 1,2, USB to COM and none of them works... so I'm stuck with 1.9.0 which works perfectly

This crash occurs after you change the com port in the station settings. I can see what the problem is, and I can fix it. But does it also crash at start up if you already have the correct com port set? Because that may be a different problem, and I'd need to see the bugreport.txt for that crash.

Hi, yes it happens also at startup... will post the bugreport as soon as I get my hands on the system (remote site)...

Ok, the program did not crash when I restarted the application (Cumulus) with the COM port set... so it just crashes when I change the ports. But once it is started it does not receive any data from the station... Any clue ?

The data is being discarded because of bad CRC checks. This happened with the very first build of 1.9.1 and wasn't completely unexpected; it was because of the switch to unicode characters. But as far as I'm aware it's being working OK since I fixed it. I'll hook up my WMR928 console later and see if I get the same problem.

It works OK with mine (but I only have the indoor sensor). If you turn on the debug log and leave it for a few minutes, then upload the debug.log file, I'll have a look at the data that it's getting.

Ok, it's not crashing anymore, but it's not geting any data from the console...

Now back to 1.9.0

Thanks, I'll have a look. I removed the debug log as it had your WU password in it. Later versions don't do that.

The problem is that when Cumulus puts back the two 'start of packet' characters (two hex FFs) to do the CRC check, on your system they become hex 79, but on my system they are (correctly) FFs:

I have no idea why this happens. Perhaps it is something to do with your Slovenian locale. I'll have to seek expert advise from the Delphi gurus.

Is anyone else using 1.9.1 with an Oregon Scientific on a PC with a non-English language? I believe that's the cause of the problem here, I use character strings to buffer the data and some sort of unwanted character conversion is going on. It would be good to get someone else involved as confirmation.

I tried setting my PC to Slovenian locale and language and couldn't reproduce the problem, though...

I''ll try today what you PMed me 2 days ago... and than will try ti install WinXPSP3 and see if the problem still exists (but on my older PC I had the same problem)... if I'll have enough time I'll probably try to switch locale to UK English...
