I Have attached a sample graph showing outdoor temp readings in relation to wind speed.
As you can see, with almost still conditions temp readings are fine. Add some wind and temp readings are up and down. Again this can be cured by disconnecting one of the wind sensors.
Would external interference really cause this issue? wouldn't it be there with or without wind.

Still looks to me like a transmitter problem. Its as if the readings for wind are clashing with temp when sampling.
Also interesting that some are positive and some negative.

If it was not for the fact that I have tried two transmitters that would be my conclusion.
I'm out of ideas, think I will set it all up and leave wind direction disconnected. It has been really windy here with lots of rain and I have missed recording it all because of testing.
Thanks for all the reply's.

Do you know anyone handy with the same weather station?

Unfortunately not.

I had this problem when I extended the wind sensor cable but not with the standard cables.
To try to get rid of the spikes with the longer cable, I tried a considerable numbers of things and eventually solved that one by using an opto-coupler to isolate the anemometer signal. Full info in this (long) thread :-

I have a WS-1081 for grabs, I'm getting out of it. My hard drive caught fire, had to replace the drive and cannot get my console to read accurate, so I am canning this 300 dollar station all to gether.
Take care.

If you have swapped the transmitter and still getting the same problem, then I would swap the other components as well. Seems that is the cause, unless you are having the cables wrapped, or run along other wires.

Hi Gina,
Thank you for your reply, read through the entire thread and you certainly did some thorough testing. I certainly can see similarities between your results and mine.
I'm not sure how longer leads would make the situation worst but I am no expert in this field. I have decided (in desperation) to build the opto coupler circuit and see how it goes. I will post results soon.
Regards,
Simon.

Opto Coupler installed, indoor test showed smooth temps with no fluctuations.
Have re-installed outdoors but there is not a breath of wind here at the moment.
C'mon wind, I cursed the other night when I had to pull the kit down and you nearly blew me off the roof. Now I want to test my new installation you disappear.
Waiting waiting.

Maybe I could make wind for you?
What are you powering the opto with?

Hi Super-T,
Powering with 2 x AA batteries.
Still waiting for wind.
Station is showing wind speed as "0" - cups are only just rotating and occasionally stop.

Link to official observations for Hobart (shows current wind speed as "0"), i am within 10KM of Hobart Airport.

After installing the opto outdoors and waiting for some wind, I am now disappointed that I am not receiving any wind speed data.
The unit worked for over 24 hours indoors when tested but stopped within minutes of making final connection outdoors.
I have re-checked all connection and reconnected, the unit worked and showed wind speed for approximately 3 minutes after reconnection and then reverted to showing zero wind speed.
Could this be a power supply issue? I am using 2 x 1.5 volt AA's.
Unit is housed in a water proof box to protect from rain and moisture.
