Spurious 2099 entry

Hi Steve.... Help please

I noticed just now that my website wasn't updated since 16th March. No idea why as I tested the ftp link and all is well. I decided to stop and restart Cumulus, so that I could click the 'web update' to try and force a refresh.

All was seemingly okay with some small exceptions.

The Daily Rain, and Temp Min/max now had gone wrong and have 2099 year at the end. I looked at the logs and saw that the 'daily' log has mysteriously added a line in, between the 16th and 17th March wit a xx/xx/99 date. I deleted this line, and restarted Cumulus. Did another 'web update' and this seemed to cure the issue.

I wonder if you have any knowledge of what could have caused the addition of a spurious 2099 dated line in the log?

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll have a look. What was the rest of the xx/xx/99 date?

It appears that your PC/Windows clock reverted to midnight on 1st Jan 2000 briefly, so Cumulus thought it was time to do a daily summary for 31st Dec 1999:

Blimey Charlie....that's scary. I can only wonder what on earth could have made that happen. Blame Bill Gates personally I think.

Okay at least we know what caused it... and thanks for your trouble. Deadly efficient as usual.

Other than that I seem to have a good handle on this stuff now. You may notice that I have added links on my front page to Met Office Invent page and also to my Weather Underground page, so that my readers can get the month and year charts historically.

All combined together I have had some very nice comments from users, some of whom (local Farmers) are using me on a regular basis.

Should I risk beta'ing the new version or wait and let everyone else?

Normally I'd suggest trying it, but the current build (983) has an issue with a third party component. There's a circumvention, but even so, I'd recommend waiting for the next build, at least.

This may not be relevant but just in case.... Did you need to manually change the date on your PC to be correct? If so, the internal clock battery may well need replacing. Please ignore if this isn't relevant.

Hi Neil

No, I didn't do anything at all. This appears to be just Windows having a fit. Actually, thinking about it, iTunes crashed the pc the other day, and I had to do a hard restart as even Ctl/Alt/Del wouldn't get Task Manager up. I guess doing that may conceivably given the pc a momentary glitch, but in all my years in IT I have never come across it before.

I guess I put that one down to experience.
