I started to look at this last night. Been a very busy vacation... Ha!

There are several bugs in the package and one that is a bit strange because it seemed to work on my server just fine. But then I lost track of where I was going so I need to start over with the version I sent Steve and restore that from backup first.

Issues that I know of:

o Submitting some coordinates combination's don't appear to work.
o Admin does not accept the coordinates when inserted as new but work when you go back and edit the site.
o World view is in one notch too far.

I will be adding a UK view and push out the Europe view a bit.

There will still be an issue using Unicode as I have not yet figured out how to get around that. MSIE has a cow when it shows up in the XML file and while there are way to deal with it, none of what I've tried worked. So plain normal non-unicode characters are still the only way to do it.

If there is something else, let me know.

I plan on working on it either this evening between all the end of year server backups or the next day or two. Should be done before Sunday.

Rippingale Lincs. is also in the wrong place - it is N. of Bourne & S. of Sleaford .

Cheers, & a Happy New Year.

That would mean that their coordinates are not correct.

If the correct coordinates are known, either post them or send them to me and I will update the entry.

Some of the submissions have been obvious to spot errors on. When entered, if they are in the middle of the ocean, its most likely not right. I send an email to the submitter to see what might be wrong. Sometimes, I can tell via their website what the error is.

But other than that... I wouldn't know if it is properly set or not.

This is also a manual process. So its possible the entry wasn't made correctly.

Hi Kevin,

The coordinates for Rippingale are 52 50 09 N, -0 22 38 W, or 52.836 N, -0.378 W. When I entered them into the form for the interactive map, I may have omitted the "-" in the Westings. I remember I did have a bit of a problem because it wouldn't accept "0" as the first part of the coordinate when I tried to enter degrees, minutes and seconds, but was OK when I entered the decimal value instead.

Strangely, I thought I checked the map a few days after submitting the form, and Rippingale appeared to be in the right place then - must have been a senior moment!

Do you want me to resubmit the form with the "-" in front of the zero, or can you do it manually?

Many thanks

I just sent Steve the updated map pages.

The new version includes:
  • Fix to Submission Forms for Lat and Long entries replacing some brain dead logic.
  • Added view for UK and S-America
  • Adjustments to World and some other views
  • Added individual site maps down in the site listings so you can quickly see where a specific site is located
  • Management back end changed to allow for auto submissions.
They will show up when Steve gets a chance to update them.

I knew I forgot to check for something... that was it.

I just send an update to the update to Steve to fix the 0 degree issue.

Polesworth, North Warwickshire is way out of place.

Cheers,

Placed in as submitted.

Turns out the submitted entry had the longitude reversed, West instead of East.
