I installed Beta 983 and immediately had issues at the end of data upload to the website. The upload worked ok, but the disconnecting either took a long time or did not occur at all.

I have reverted back to 982 (from a backup copy I always keep) and the issue has gone away.

I kept the 983 as a backup.

It does look like there is some problem with build 983 for reasons I can't explain, as there were very few changes. I'll see what I can find.

Do you use Remote Desktop? I can reproduce this problem (but I don't know what causes it) using RDP, but it's fine without it.

No, I don't use remote desktop.

It's an interesting one this....I too saw the same problem in 983 in that it never seemed to disconnect. Having read this thread I did a little experiment.

I RD'd onto the Cumulus PC and did a File, Web update. It was amazingly slow I thought, but it did the upload and got to the "Logging Out" message on the pop-up window and showing "Disconnecting" on the lower left on the main window. I left it a few minutes and it never appeared to disconnect. The "Web update" option continued to be greyed out.

I disconnected from RD (and restarted Cumulus) and did the same thing, but this time I timed it. A full web update took about 25 seconds and then it disconnected.

I reconnected with RD and the full update date took almost 110 seconds before I got the "Logging Out" message and it never disconnected.

Interestingly as soon as I close RD it disconnects.

Clearly RD is causing the communication components of the PC some grief -- time to bin RD! I normally use "LogMeIn" for remote but I keep RD as a backup (not any more).

What I can not say is if this was unique to 983 but oddly as soon as I installed 983 last night I became aware of it.

I use Remote Desktop all the time - my 'production' version of Cumulus runs on a server and I connect remotely from my development PC. I'm reasonably confident that this is new to 983, and possibly related somehow to the new version of the TMS components that I installed. But Bob seems to have a different way of bringing on the same problem.

On my computer, Cumulus 983 gets stuck at "Creating web files" and never progresses from there. I am not using Remote Desktop.

Edit: realtime updates work fine.

I always normally update as soon as I spot a new release but not updated as yet to v.b983 still on v.b982 just out of interest my uploading time take's about 25 seconds until it reaches the sending graph files then take's a further 60 seconds before the 'logging out' message appears which I thought was normal...??

I doubt there is a 'normal' beyond your own experience. There are so many factors at play -- Your internet connection, Your ISP, the webserver.

So 'my' normal is 25 seconds but others could be better/worse. If your normal is 60 then that is your reference point for future checks.

I've found that the problem occurs because the 'FTP.Quit' command doesn't return. I seem to be able to circumvent this by doing an 'Abort' before the 'Quit'. But even if this works, I don't think it's going to fix the other problems that people are having with this build; I really have no idea what the cause is.

When I first started investigating the problems with 983, I saw this, but just once, and haven't had it again. If you restart Cumulus (you may need to kill it) do you still have the problem?

Could everyone who has seen this/these problem(s) please try turning off animation on the wind speed gauge?

Yip, turning off Wind Gauge animation solved the problem for me.
(FYI - my Animation factor was 20)

Who'da thunk it? Animation on a wind gauge prevents FTP disconnecting.

The component comes with source code, maybe I'll see if I can debug it for them. Maybe not, actually...

And generally slowness at uploading! And only with RD in my case. Maybe a combination of factors at play. RD can't cope with the gauge 'moving' while send me a screen update, and FTP struggling too.

I've turned off the animation for now -- I never sit in front of the station PC anyway. It's not even got a monitor, k/b or mouse.
