Display contrast adjustment!

A later version of this unit now has a built in adjustment for the LCD contrast adjustment - ebay item # 300282574736. I would guess that all they have done is replace a couple of resistors in the circuit, with a potentiometer - in responce to complaints about the poor display contrast. Has anyone bought one of these later units yet and might be willing to take a peek inside?

My supplier of the 1081 has recently brought in a new batch and I posted one out this morning. The next one through I will peek inside the console and see what mods are done, if they are done.

If they are the modified ones, then some close up photos of that area of the pcb would be extremely useful.

Aparently this was accomplished in the units firmware and probably with changes to the hardware (the LED back loghting was lost) - so therefore no chance of a field modification.

Does anyone know if the Maxkon version of the 1081 station also has the option to adjust the contrast? The ebay seller I emailed does not know if this is the case....
