Exceeded Maximum Login?

Post by MickinMoulden »

Yup, that's what it said when I tried to log in. That's never happened before. Has anyone had issues with your account?
You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to solve the CAPTCHA below.

Probably someone/something trying to hack your account, assuming you hadn't had any failed login attempts yourself.

None, just opened the page from an Inbox email and tried once.

I was in another City yesterday and from there logged in to the forum and got that message as well in my 1st attempt to log in. Entering the response to "What is the forum subject beginning with 'W'?" in the CAPTCHA then got me in.

That did not occur from home.

I suspect someone/bot has been trying to hack into the forum using login details. Nothing to worry about assuming your password is sensibly secure ;)

I only log in from home, and that's where it happened. Bots musts be on the prowl. I don't think it would really matter where you log in though would it.

No, it is the forum telling you that someone/thing has attempted to login as you and failed a number of authentication attempts. The login can happen anywhere in the world.

It's a sad fact of our eLifes that there are forces at play who try to topple our systems

I had the same situation as Paul earlier in the week. It finally let me in after the CAPTCHA.
When the weather is the focus of the topic, it means we have to start conversations with something else.
