Problem with application to go on User Map

Post by dionaea »

I have tried to go on the User Map for Cumulus but when I submit it I keep getting the reply that I need to supply longitude data. I am E of the 0 degree meridian & I set that & re insert the longitude - submit & get the same message. Can anyone help please?

Cheers,
Chris

I think I had the same problem... entered all the details apart from the decimal one and it would not accept them... and kept going back to the start....
Edit
Cracked it.....
If you have your latitude and longitude use this website
http://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/convert_lat_long/ to convert to decimal.

Then enter the decimal figures only.
ie 51.595
-0.43028

in the case of mine.... and it worked I have now submitted....

Hi Steve,
Thanks for that - did what you said & it works but I chickened out & clicked cancel because I am not certain whether my longitude in decimals is a - quantity living E of the 0degree meridian. Pretty sure it is but would just like to be certain.

Cheers,

Easy way to check, if you have google earth loaded.... hoover over you exact location or where you want to say you are.

Also approx halfway between kingslynn and spalding is where it changes from east to west so if you are in Burnham you are East

And I just found out setting google earth to decimal degrees... it says Burnham is approx (as I don't know your exact location) but the main T junction comes at 52.901965N and 0.623577E

Hope this helps...

There are a few little problems with the map submission that Kevin knows about, and I'm sure he'll sort it out when he gets chance.
