How to make new own templates?

Post by Eckie »

Hi everybody,

I am experimenting with Cumulus, since I find it very attractive, especially the realtime display-possibilities.
My station is a Davis Vantage Pro (2005). My main software until now has been Wswin / PCWetterstation (Werner Krenn), and I still like it a lot.
However, I want to use Cumulus as well, but the main problem is: I am not able to make my own templates.
No matter what I try, there seems to be a problem.

E.G.: I made a little testfile, and put it in the subfolder "web".
The name of the file: testfileT.htm in which I put some variables, just to test.
In Cumulus, Internet settings seem allright, everything (incl. the standard templates) are uploaded without any problem.
The remote file should be named: testfile.htm ( without T).
In de subfolder "web" there is now a file, called: testfileT.htmtmpl and I really don't get it anymore.
This file will not be uploaded, and in the little upload-screen, every time an upload is going on, there is a message FTP-error.

Hopefully someone can help me.

Hi, welcome to the forum

I think your problem could be to do with the remote filename in Internet settings

The "remote filename" needs to include the full path on the web server in addition to the filename -- usually it is the same as "Directory" in the Site/Options Screen. So if, for example, your directory is set to /public_html your remote filename would be...

/public_html/testfile.htm

You should complete ingnore the temporily filenames on your local disk as David says you can name the remote file as you wish the location where the remote files for the web are stored is important, maybe you can dump a screenshot of your ftp software with the remote directory?

Hi David,

I already tried that too. In my case, it's /httpdocs/testfile.htm.
Without that, Cumulus does not upload anything, what I found out in the main FTP setup screen.
Also I tried to give the path without the http://, still no result.

Eventually, it turned out that it had to be written as following under remote files: /httpdocs/cumulus/test/testfile.htm, thus without the http en www.

Many thanks for your help, and the same goes for Nitrix, who I already met in a Dutch forum.
