Help for DeAgostini Italian Meto Station

Post by robor65 »

Dear all,
in Italy thousands of people bought a Meteo Station from DeAgostini.

It came with a lot of problems. First of all is a very poor software.

I would like to try tu use Cumulus. Our software creates a file with this data:

Station name
Date
Time
TempOut
Pres
HumOut
WindSpeed
Direction
Gust
RainRate
Rain24
DewPoint
Software
Relaise
TempIn
HumIn
UVI
Radiation

i.e. record:
fvg043;14/02/11;13:05;3.5;1018;79;22.6;135;9.3;-99999;-99999;6.2;Meteo Log;2.2;24.2;31;-99999;-99999;

I would like to format these data in EasyWeathe.dat format to use them with cumulus. But I cannot fine a sample record of easyweather.

Can someone help me giving me a record sample and the record format?

MAny thanks for your help

This thread gives the format and fields which Cumulus uses:

Thanks Steve,
I just saw that thread and tried to format my data in that way, but maybe I'm going wrong in something.

Can someone post just a record of the easyweather.dat file and tell me if it need some headers?

Thanks for help

Here's an example. You don't need headers, Cumulus just reads the last line. I think that if your system using semicolons for list separators and commas for decimals, then you will need to use those. Spaces are also treated as separators (hence date and time are two fields).

Code: Select all

11943, 2008-10-02 11:52:52, 2008-10-02 11:52:51, 5, 55, 16.6, 51, 15.3, 5.2, 10.2, 1013.3, 1024.7, 5.8, 4, 0.0, 5, 10, NW, 1056, 316.8, 0.0, 0.0, 9.9, 19.2, 57.9, 131.8, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 00DBB0, 05 37 A6 00 33 99 00 95 27 3A 58 00 0A 20 04 00 ,

Thanks Steve,
just anothe little question.

If cumulus just read the last line, how can I upload earlier data, to have a storic database?

I find somethin in help files, I think it is related to "DataLog file Format", am I right?

This facility is very basic, and it wasn't something I planned on doing any work on. It was simply the original way that I devised for Fine Offset users to be able to use Cumulus. So there's no support for 'historic' data, and it's not a very good way of getting data in to Cumulus at all. It doesn't use the timestamps, other than to detect that the data has changed. All data is entered with a timestamp of 'now'. You probably understand all this already, but I wanted to make it clear.

To get historic data in, yes, you would have to create the data logs manually as described in the help and wiki.

If you're a programmer, you could convert your data to Cumulus format, I suppose. Or it may be possible with a spreadsheet. It might be possible to convert older data to Cumulus and generate the Cumulus data files and data folder, then run Cumulus to take in each line of new data. Just my thoughts.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.

Thanks Steve,
I can understand. But I will try to do the way Gina is suggesting.

Just the last ( :D I hope) question.

My program, when do not receive data from a sensor, fills the field with "-99999", for cumulus, can I leave the field like this or do Ineed to set to "0" or just leave an empty field?

and for fields "00DBB0, 05 37 A6 00 33 99 00 95 27 3A 58 00 0A 20 04 00 ,"?
it's hard for me to understand those hexadecimal value, can I set them to "000000, 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ,"?

If it's one of the fields which Cumulus uses, then you'll need to put something valid in there. There is no checking of data at all when using this method, Cumulus will use whatever value it finds.

Ok, for formatting my real time data no problem (I hope)

I was wondering for monthly files in "data" directory, now Cumulus is on since some hours, and in setup I setted 5 mins for update, but I cannot see files like feb02log.txt in it.

I wanted to see a Cumulus generated file before formatting my old data.

In help I see:
The second is a set of files with names in the form <Month><Year>log.txt (for example, the file for December 2003 is called Dec03log.txt (on English systems)); an entry is made to the current month's file every ten minutes (or as configured), recording the current sensor values. The file is in comma-separated format, and each entry contains the following fields, in this order:
Why cannot find them?

from a file formatted like Easyweather.dat

I mean, Cumulus is now setted for EasyWeather setup. So I understood it will create the datalog files.

I think you must have created the file incorrectly, then. I'm afraid there are no diagnostics available for this method of driving Cumulus. Are you using the correct separators and decimals?

You said to use the separators and decimals my system use, so I'm using semicolon and commas.

Maybe the date format is wrong, do I need to use the same in my system (DMY) or YMD?

The date format doesn't matter. It doesn't even have to be a date, it only uses it to determine whether the last line has changed.

Does it show the data on the main screen?
