Lost Sensor Contact

Reading through others, it tends to be a battery problem yeah? if so, what is the best route for changing the battery (no sarcastic answers please Paul lol)

Should I shut the Display down, then unplug batteries, or the other way round or what?

Definately close Cumulus first.
Then remove the USB and batteries from the console.
Then change the batteries in the sensor.
Put batteries back in Console.
Wait for outside temp to appear on the console.
Clear the memory (I do this to clear any dodgy data on startup).
Then connect the USB and start Cumulus.

My experience is that I always get dodgy rain readings after a console reboot, so be prepared to have to edit them.

Doesn't matter if you shut the console down first. Be a good idea to shut Cumulus down first. Change batteries in transmitter unit. After new batteries are put in the red LED lights for a few second then after that it flashes every 48 seconds when it transmits. Indoors, you need to remove the batteries from the console and disconnect the USB to remove all power. Then put the batteries back taking care not to touch the screen until after you hear the beep that tells you the console has received the data. Then you can connect the USB and run Cumulus. After a short while you should see the outdoor temperature etc. on the console display, replacing the dashes.

thanks for that, since posting, have moved the display away from the tower (dumped it on top this morning whilst cleaning) it seems to be okay, so it might have just been interference or something

When the batteries are on their way out, you may get intermittent 'lost contact'. The outside temperature also affects the performance of the batteries when they are low. Best to keep an eye on it.

Yeah I am mate, I had a feeling i might have some trouble after those 2 weeks of subzero temps at christmas. So will pick a pack of batteries up tomorrow after lifeboat and just keep them handy in case!
