WH1091 reading glitch tonight

Post by fractonimbus »

For some reason, Cumulus stopped listening to the WH1091 base station for an hour (before I noticed it - may have been a USB problem caused by my plugging and unplugging stuff in another USB port). When I got them talking again (disconnecting the base, and then restarting Cumulus) it read stuff in rapidly but the graphs showed Cumulus had just drawn straight lines over the missing data. I confirmed this by looking at Feb11log.txt.

So as an experiment I deleted the lines in Feb11log.txt back to the point where contact was lost, and edited today.ini to set the latest time to the contact lost time, then restarted Cumulus. It read everything correctly this time and filled in the gaps properly.

Steve, was that a reasonable thing to do or was I lucky? :-)

Yes, what you did was the manual equivalent of using one of the start up backups, effectively rewinding to a point in the past so that it would download the data that it missed when the connection was lost.
