How do I change today's rain ?

I have an Oregon Scientific WMR 928 that I am running with Cumulus 1.9 (build 958).

I had to move the rain collector today, which resulted in me receiving an incorrect rainfall reading for the day.

Is there an easy way to set the daily rainfall for today, and also a way to set a total for the year?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Matt,

Turn off Cumulus and open the file Feb11log.txt in the data folder in Notepad. **Make a back up copy first**. Go looking for the rainfall figure - it's after the sixth comma in each line, I think. The newest line is at the bottom of the file, and the time is after the first comma. Edit the rainfall to a plausible figure. If Cumulus objects when it restarts, you made a mistake and you'll need to restore the backup. Quite safe provided you take care to back up!

Re year to date totals, you can set an initial rainfall figure via the Configuration menu in Cumulus. But if the year's total is what's wrong as a result of the move, I think you'll find it stored in one of the other files in the data folder. Steve can no doubt tell you which.

You can't change today's rain total just by editing Feb11log.txt; editing that file will allow you to correct the figures that have already been logged but not the current value, which will continue to be logged subsequently. You need to edit the start of day figure in today.ini so that it gives the total you want relative to the current value of the counter. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_sta ... it_to_zero

You can supply a year-to-date rain total (to be added in to the calculated total) on the station settings screen.
