Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
Hi,
I tested Cumulus on my windows XP laptop last night
and noticed a difference in what Cumulus (and my weather
base station) v's what WunderGround Rapid Fire was
showing for the current temperature.
i.e
Cumulus and Weather base station both reporting Temp: 4.4 degrees C
Wunderground Temp: 4 degrees C
I sat and watched for about 1 hour ( I know I am sad LOL), as the temperature changed
up and down a point of a degree and each time Wunderground only showed a whole
degree not to one decimal point.
I looked at other stations that are listed under Wunderground and
using Rapid Fire and they all seemed to be reporting the Temperature
to one decimal point. i.e 4.2, 4.1, 4.3 etc.. but my temperature remained
at 4.
If I refreshed the webpage then it would breifly show the correct temperature
being reported 4.4 degrees C, byut then as soon as Cumulus sent the
rapid fire data over and the stats updated on Wunderground it would
just revert back to 4 degrees C.
Therefore does anyone know why this happens? and is it because
Cumulus maybe rounds up or down the temperature to the nearest
whole figure? Or is there a setting I need to select/deselect to get it to work?

Re: Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
Cumulus sends the temperature with 1 decimal place, in Fahrenheit. I've just turned on Rapid Fire for my site temporarily, and it's showing the temp in both F and C to 1 dp. Is there a specific part of WU where you're seeing this? Which version of Cumulus are you using?

Re: Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
Hi Steve,
The version of Cumulus I'm running on my laptop is v1.9.0
The below screen captures show the areas in Wunderground
that were displaying the temp as a whole number.
(NOTE: these images were taken today, and does not show the
values I was getting last night with Cumulus running.
As I have now had to switch back to my Win 2K server which is
sending data from EasyWeather & WUHU to Wunderground.
But should indicate the areas of Wunderground that were
displaying the temp values as previously mentioned)

Re: Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
I've looked at the recent history for your station for last night, and the temperatures are shown with 1 decimal place, so Cumulus is clearly sending it that way. So I think what you were seeing must be something to do with Wunderground itself, and I'm afraid that other than the upload protocol which I've implemented in Cumulus, WU itself is a complete mystery to me. Hopefully someone who understands WU will be able to offer some explanation.

Thanks Steve,
I may try again tonight to see if it still continues to display like that.

Re: Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
Quick update..
I have decided to build a new server that will run on Win XP, and keep my old
Win 2K server as a backup machine.
Therefore, once it is built and up and running I will install Cumulus
and see if I get the same problem, or *hopefully* it will run ok.
I will post up my results as and when I get the new server online.

I finally finished building my new server and now have cumulus up and running.
The other good news is that Wunderground now displays the correct
temperature readings now

Re: Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
Hello,
First of all, thank you very much for all the things I have learn with you reading yours posts and in special to Steve and is great great work: the Cumulus software.
Two dias ago I finally try to send my data to the WU. Everything functioned well, but today the rapidfire just stops and does not function any more? Can somebody help me, is this a normal thing?
I have been using the Cumulus beta release v1.9.1 (974) and in my website (still in test mode) all the updates are ok. Even in the WU, the other updates seems to be ok, so I do not understand why this?
Link to my website: http://www.meteoelvas.com/estacao
Link to WU: http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstat ... refvalue=0
Thank's in advance!;)
Kind Regards.
Manuel

Re: Cumulus & WeatherUnderground rapid fire query
Looks like a problem at WU. I can't find any rapid fire sites which are working.actioman wrote:today the rapidfire just stops and does not function any more?
There aren't any other updates. Rapid fire updates are the same as 'normal' WU updates, just done more frequently and to a different server. The fact that WU is showing your data OK in the history shows that Cumulus is uploading the data successfully and WU is accepting it.Even in the WU, the other updates seems to be ok,

Ok, thank again Steve! I just wait and see see what it happens.

I didn't know about this thread, but I was seeing the same thing here in the US. RapidFire is not working for my data or anyone else. I guess its good to know its not just an isolated case.
