Re: Is there a maximum anemometer speed?
Hi all,
OK. I have now got 1.9.1 build 977 up & running but have lost a few individual tweaks that I would like to put back such as a visitor counter, different colours for different type, a clock, contact me & photo gallery - also removing webcam. In the past I have just made the alterations in IndexT etc. & then uploaded them.The changes have been saved but are not changing the web page. I have only altered IndexT for now just to see if it works. I don't think Steve approves of this method but it has worked for me - up to now! Is this not possible in this version or is it me. Remember I am an oldie & not a computer wizard - If there is a simpler way of doing this I would appreciate it.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris

I've come to accept that for small-scale changes, editing the 'standard' pages is simplest for many people, hence the option to not overwrite the templates in the installer.dionaea wrote:I have only altered IndexT for now just to see if it works. You have edited the indexT.htm page somewhere on your PC and uploaded that file to your web site: http://www.burnhamthorpeweather.co.uk/indexT.htm. What you actually need to do is place that file in the Cumulus web folder so that Cumulus can process it and upload the index.htm file, which is the indexT.htm file with web tags replaced by real data. You never need to have the indexT.htm file on your web site, it's full of web tags and hence not useful for anyone to look at.

Re: Is there a maximum anemometer speed?
Chris, there are a few things to remember when editing a webpage...dionaea wrote:Well - have just gone back into the web site & the visitor counter has appeared - no sign of the gallery, contact me etc which I altered as well as the maroon letters
![]()
As Steve indicated, the files with the capital T (tee) in them (such as 'indexT.htm') are template files (I guess the capital T stand for template
Another thing to remember is that the code for the web page has to be contained within pointers (inside a container). For example, the Cumulus templates have the '<div id="content">' near the top of the file and a closing '</div>' near the bottom of the file - in an unmodified template the '<div id="content">' is located just after the '<body>' element and the closing '</div>' is located just before the '</body>' element.
On the 'indexT.htm' template you have uploaded to your server, there are a few mistakes... You have placed the 'Flag counter' outside the page container; you have also introduced a second set of '</body>' '</html>' elements; and on the navigation line, for some reasons, there is a mis-formed table data cell closing element '</td</b></td>' - it should simply be a '</td>'.
Although most programming code errors will not display one a web page, it is good practice not to introduce them in one's code, more so when one is learning a new language...

Re: Is there a maximum anemometer speed?
Hi Ray,
Many thanks for the information. I think I have sorted out the end of the navigation line in IndexT but am not quite sure of where the changes go in flag counter. I did say I was a noddy! You mention things lie near to the top of the file or near to the bottom of the file. How near is near? I thought that it was totally unforgiving if you put something in the wrong place.
I have got the site more or less as I want it again but one or two new additions seem irrelevant to my weather station such as Solar Radiation & Evapotranspiration - also I don't think Hours of Sunshine will work. Can I remove these?
Cheers,
Chris

Delete the following from indexT.htm:dionaea wrote:Solar Radiation & Evapotranspiration
Code: Select all
<tr class="td_temperature_data">
<td>Solar Radiation</td>
<td><#SolarRad> W/m²</td>
<td>Evapotranspiration Today</td>
<td><#ET> <#rainunit></td>
</tr>Delete the following from todayT.htm, and the very similar code from yesterdayT.htm:- also I don't think Hours of Sunshine will work.
Code: Select all
<tr class="td_temperature_data">
<td>Hours of Sunshine</td>
<td><#SunshineHours></td>
<td> </td>
