David (daj) did suggest it to me a while ago, and I agreed that pretty much everything is on it now. But I don't really 'do' FB - I haven't even got an account. Maybe I'll do it one day, when I work out what it's all about.

It can be a great waste of time, but usually fun

I must admit I cannot see much point in FB, I have an account but purely to see what immediate close family who live abroad put up like photos and family news. I dont use it for anything else. I find the phone or face to face contact much better and far less likely to be misunderstood.
I dont use Twitter either that is even more fatuous than FB (if that is possible). Perhaps FB and others like it were a good idea spoiled by a small number of inane people who use it for useless trivia.
Just my viewpoint as always YMMV

I just get a log in page - that's one thing I dislike about FB, why do you have to create an account to view pages that are presumably supposed to be visible to all? - I don't have an account and don't particularly want one.

In fairness, you could look at it another way, not that you dont like facebook, that others do.
Remember its about pulling people over to the forum, getting new members, new donators, new users etc etc, and facebook is a BRILLIANT medium for doing such a thing, create a group titled "Cumulus Weather Software" or similar, so people will find it if they look for "weather" or "software", put redirects over to the forum, you can put status up advising of latest beta versions, interesting chats, weather photos, get people interested etc.
It's not about what people who dont like facebook want, it's about attracting other users to the FORUM & SOFTWARE?

Whilst I do accept that the old saying 'There's no such thing as bad publicity' I'm not convinced that FB would bring very many worthwhile visitors. I did have both FB and Twitter accounts and did publish weather reports to both but after a while on checking my stats I got no visible benefit from either. My site gets upwards of 600,000 hits a month during peak holiday times and I was getting pretty much zero coming form FB or Twitter.
I also think that the vast majority of people who might buy a weather station and be looking for software to run it are most likely to start with a Google search and find Cumulus, WD, VWS etc that way.
I am not saying dont do it, just that I dont believe it would prove to be a big (or even a small) benefit.

Well it worked for an Ambulance Forum, bring many medical professionals to a forum, the admin attributed 75% of members as a direct result of the Facebook page, so yeah, they do bring worthwhile visitors, its not just nutters and wierdos on facebook that want to tell people about their cat's bowel movements, out of the 120 friends i have on there (I dont go in for having hundreds and hundreds) 20 of them are medical professionals.
I do realise that medical professionals are not going to look, purely for example, someone who wants to look for weather software on there might well just do that search, beside, its free, it dont hurt etc, hell I will even do it myself if Steve wants
