I am thinking of setting up a dedicated computer to run Cumulus and to continuously update my own website and the various other sites ie Weather Underground, etc.
I have been looking at used netbooks on Ebay but they use Windows CE OS. Will the Cumulus software run on Windows CE?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I have done a search and nothing came up.

Re: Windows CE
I'm afraid I don't know. I think some people do run Cumulus on netbooks, but I don't know if they're running Windows CE.

Re: Windows CE
Hi, I don't know about CE, but you can pick up a new copy of windows XP for pennies on eBay at the moment and that should run on almost all netbooks.

Problem solved. I managed to buy an ASUS Eee PC 701SD netbook with Windows XP and complete with original box, software and books from Ebay for £62.

Good buy. I run Cumulus on an EeeBox (Win 7) 24x7. Seems to be very reliable and uses minimal power. I share a monitor with another PC with the EeeBox mounted on the back of the monitor using the HDMI input.scramblers wrote:Problem solved. Re: Windows CE
The ASUS Eee PC 701SD netbook has now been running for 24 hours providing a continuous update, however because the previous owner attempted to delete personal info, etc it runs very slow. Had to order an external DVD/CD drive from Amazon (£19.95) so that I can do a complete clean and re-installation.
Bob, how did you manage to include the Weather Underground banner into your signature?

Ah! Yes! The issue of no CD in the Eee PC is an issue. I managed to get Windows 7 onto a bootable USB drive and install it that way, but you have XP. My Eee PC has 2gb of RAM, so it runs Win 7 well.scramblers wrote:The ASUS Eee PC 701SD netbook has now been running for 24 hours providing a continuous update, however because the previous owner attempted to delete personal info, etc it runs very slow. The code provided by WU is way too long for the signature. It had me beat for a long time until someone posted an alternative on the forum. Here's mine:

I've had to us () in place of [] throughout otherwise it would insert another one of my banners. You'll need to change the () brackets to [] and replace my WU ID with yours.

Re: Windows CE
Thanks for the info Bob. It would not work for me so as you can see I've used the standard banner.tjaliwalpa wrote:Ah! Yes! The issue of no CD in the Eee PC is an issue.
