Cumulus Support

One more bug(maybe).
When you first load the wxindex.php the page shows falling.The pressuretrendname Falling or Rising(i haven't found yet from which values take those trendnames),its not translated to greek or other language.When the first update occurs,the pressure trend name change to Steady,and get's translated.Thats strange.Any idea how to fix it?

When the 'wxindex.php' script is first started, it call (loads) a few other scripts/templates before starting the 'ajax-dashboard.php' script - the 'ajax-dashboard.php' PHP script it the one that first places weather values on the page - during that time, the 'ajaxCUwx.js' AJAX (javascript) is being downloaded into the user's browser cache (on the user's computer) - finally, the 'ajaxCUwx.js' script starts and requests an update of the 'realtime.txt' data file, and, once done, it overwrites the weather values on the page with the latest weather information.

One way to check what is quickly written on the page (when it first load) is to temporarily rename the 'ajaxCUwx.js' AJAX (javascript) - this way the script will not start and you will be able to see what has been displayed by 'ajax-dashboard.php' PHP script.

If you had given us a link to your site, it would have been easier to really check if there is indeed a problem...

I dont see the issue you've mentioned, I think the explanation of Ray is right, perhaps the issue depends on the visitors site the faster the ineternetconnection (download) the faster I've loaded the scripts ofcourse you're hostingprovider has to be fast too, I'm using a 25 mbit download.

Hi all i been doing some updates to my ajax-dashboard
i got it look ok in firefox but in chrome there a big gap under the title uv forecast
thanks for any ideas on a fix

OK, I see the problem, not just for the 'Baro Trend/Τάση Βαρόμ' but also the dates for both 'UV Index Forecast/Πρόγνωση Δείκτη UV' dates...

One other thing I noticed was that it took a very long time before the 'ajaxCUwx.js' AJAX (JavaScript) refreshed the screen (about 1.5 minute on my computer).

I checked the 'ajax-dashboard.php' script and the 'Rising/Falling' words should have been properly translated before the the 'ajaxCUwx.js' script changes the display. I also checked the 'language-el.txt' language file and there are translations for the 'Rising/Falling' words.

I will have to do additional checks on my system to find out what might be happening...

Paul, you have to be careful about links that do not allow users to easily continue browsing your pages without having to hit the back arrow (ie: browse back to a previous page) - what I am getting at is that the 'cloudbase' script (or any other scripts for that matter) should be integrated into your site rather than just being 'dead ends'. Take a look at all your pages and determine into which page the 'cloudbase' image (for example) would be better installed (as integrated into that page).

Agreed, but it is an accomplishment just getting it to show, and my steps forward are still baby steps But I keep trying things and that is because of so many that have provided their ideas and samples to us, and those that offer help whenever needed. Thanks Ray, and to Ken, Ron, David, and most of all Steve, my sincere appreciation.

Well at the time had not yet, but I already had seen it at Jesús website . And now, with the script on my website, I again confirm that!

While I was doing the translation I noticed that there is no translation for 'Settled Fine' Conditions, then I add the string:

Beau, you might try moving the code at the end of the 'header.php' template - make sure you place the new code between a set of '<div>...</div>' - I tried it but I did not like it.

Today I have found a problem in the 'AJAX/PHP multilingual template'. The WU forecast stopped working

This afternoon I already had noticed that only gave the forecast for one day. And now nothing...
This is the message that appears: Warning: Division by zero in /home/meteoelvas/public_html/WU-forecast.php on line 531

But in the WU website the forecast is fully available?

Already tried changing the station WU (From Badajoz to Portalegre), but the problem remains.

Manuel, sorry for the delay in replying to your message ... I have been somewhat 'under the weather' as I have been fighting this cold for the past week and, because of prior sinus problems (the results of working as a flight attendant for more than twenty years), I really get affected thus needs some strong medications that 'numbs' my whole body...

Manuel, I have had more than five years of practice with weather web pages, first with the basic HTML designs, then with the 'ajaxWD-CarterLake Templates' and finally with the 'Weather Display (PHP-AJAX) Website Templates' ... so I have a few years of experience whith weather templates...

And, Manuel, I am not a good programmer - I manage, I am still learning, even after all those years. Ken True, on the other hand, has been programming most of his life (I think) thus making him a very knowledgeable programmer.

A year plus ago, I thought some of the Weather Display scripts I was using could be adapted to Cumulus. Unfortunately, most Cumulus users could not use PHP (host server restrictions) or were not overly interested in using PHP. At one time, it was also a puzzle for me... So, I discovered and bought a good editor which allowed me to see the results of modification I made to a script - it was not just a matter of seeing the resulting display but also to understand what the different lines of code were doing and why, thus the purchase of some good programming books, the extensive use of help files and searches of the Internet. There are still a lot of things I do not know about programming but I am still learning...

I have two 'official' (and completely automated) weather sites and two 'under development/experimental' weather sites - I also had a (fully automated) music site but problems with the CPU (overheating) have forced me to shut the server computer off and I have not put nearly enough time in getting the system back online and I am really really missing my music (a mixture of almost every types of music from almost every countries of the world - very eclectic).

Manuel, that will never happen! Our ways of seeing things are too different - Ken True is of the type 'if it is not broken, then leave it alone' and I am of the type 'we are on a media (Internet) where things are continuously changing and evolving'.

About two years ago, I spent hours adapting the 'Weather Display (PHP-AJAX) Website Templates' and make them fully bilingual (remember, I have been quoted as "having a strong disdain for grammatically-incorrect language usage"). I then sent the complete package back to the author. Unfortunately, none of the work (modifications) I had done were ever published - it would have broken the standards of the other published templates. There was another situation where I got myself involved once again into producing fully bilingual (properly translated) templates for the Canadian Weather Network - eventually I was told that basic translation was all that was needed (there is no such thing as 'basic' when translation is concerned). So, that was the end of my shared cooperative work.

Yes, I am extremely picky about the proper use of the language, any languages - if a language is going to be printed (on paper or on a screen) it MUST BE grammatically correct, every bit of it!

Manuel, I have not yet translated the Cumulus forecasts - that might be the reason why the Cumulus conditions do not show properly...

Thank you for the file, I will add it to my language files. I have also added the portuguese language (and some basic translations) inside the 'cloudbase' script - those are used for the stand-alone script, such as <link removed> ...some translation work is still needed...
