Also included in the ZIP file is the 'wxcudata_language-en.txt' file which contains all the english terms (words/phrases) contained in the template. I have made the file external so the terms (words/phrases) can be easily translated - once translation is completed, the file must be merge with the language file you use with the templates - for example, my french language file is called 'language-fr.txt', thus, once I had the terms (words/phrases) translated to french, I merged the file 'wxcudata_language-en.txt' with the file 'language-fr.txt'.
How do u get the yearly extremes?Is it cumulus version specific values(i am using the stable 1.9.0)

Hi All!

I just got a small question I think :)

Is it possible that blue overshadow not appear when i go with mouse over the logos in external link in menubar? I see this on many pages not only on mine but i think, that it is better that the blue overshadow doesn't appear.

Thanks.

Marko

Hi Ray,
Manuel and kinder find attached my 'Weather Data' PHP template.

I have downloaded your .zip as well and added the wxcudata.php and just pressed my Staples "That Was Easy" button :clap: and thank you. I am still on v. 1.9.0 and presume that is why I don't yet get any data in the Today's & Yesterday's Weather Data for Humidity as well as for any of the Extreme Weather Data This Year? http://www.komokaweather.com/wxcudata.php?lang=en

kinder and Paul, the 'wxcudata.php' script needs the latest releases of Cumulus as well as 'CUtags/CUtags-comments' with all the tags (400) produced by Cumulus.

On another subject... I have been spending the past day or so (playing around with) adapting Mike Challis 'Fast Secure Contact Form' scrit to the 'AJAX/PHP Multilingual Website' templates. Very interesting ensemble of scripts.

As indicated on the 'Fast Secure Contact Form' web page: "This free contact form software (PHP scripts) lets your visitors send you a quick E-mail message. Blocks all common spammer tactics. Spam is no longer a problem. Includes CAPTCHA and Akismet support. Additionally, the plugin has a multi-form feature, optional extra fields, and an option to redirect visitors to any URL after the message is sent. Super customizable."

Hello Ray,

I already use this magnificent Mike Challis 'Contact Form' in my website: http://www.meteoelvas.com/contact.php and the only thing that has not yet found the solution is how translate it using the multilanguage feature of the template ( the langtrans() or langtransstr() function). :?:

I also take this opportunity to thank you again for your files [ 'wxcudata.php' and 'wxcudata_language-en.txt' ] and time spent on them. I do not know if it will be of interest to anyone else, but here I leave the translation to Portuguese in the this new file 'wxcudata_language-pt.txt'

Manuel, I have not gotten too deeply (yet!) within Mike Challis superb 'Fast Secure Contact Form' scrit - rather, I have been playing around with the latest release of Securimage, ie: the PHP CAPTCHA script which is used by Mike Challis script (two releases newer with many little corrections)... ;)
actioman wrote:...the only thing that has not yet found the solution is how translate it using the multilanguage feature of the template ( the langtrans() or langtransstr() function)...
I know that Mike Challis is using the cross-platform standard gettext catalogs (.pot file and the .mo/.po files) for the language files - only the french language files are included into the ZIP archive file, but, even those files, are somewhat outdated as more than 20+ new instructions have been added to the 'Fast Secure Contact Form' scrit since the original french translation.

I have been using the Poedit editor (as suggested by Mike Challis) to incorporate the missing instruction into the french language files but I have not completed the translation.

Although I have not yet spent much time with Mike Challis' templates, I have the feeling that the the langtrans() and langtransstr() functions might not be used into the code but rather a key word that will be replaced by its proper translated instruction, something similar to what is being done/used with the 'plaintext-parser.php' script and its external 'plaintext-parser-lang-LL.txt' language files.

Have you yet downloaded/installed the Poedit editor - it does make translation a bit easier to do although one must still do the translations. You must then create a new catalog from a POT file and save the newly created language files into their own directory - closely follow the instructions/procedures/standards recommended by Mike Challis or your translated files will not be available to the scripts. Be patient - there are in excess of 3000 instructions to translate... :mrgreen:

Once I have understood the concept of the gettext catalogs (.pot file and the .mo/.po files) for the language files, I will adapt that concept to the AJAX/PHP Multilingual Website templates.
actioman wrote:...I leave the translation to Portuguese in the this new file 'wxcudata_language-pt.txt'...
Manuel, I will include the language file you have provided into my release of 'wxcudata.php' - thank you for the time spent on the translation, I really appreciate. :)

Manuel, kinder and Paul, find attached the latest release of my 'Weather Data' PHP script.

Now included in the ZIP archive are:
  • - 'wxcudata.php', the PHP script
    - 'wxcudata_language-en.txt', the file which contains all the english terms (words/phrases) contained in the template
    - 'wxcudata_language-fr.txt', the french translation
    - 'wxcudata_language-pt.txt', the portuguese translation - thank you Manuel
    - 'CUtags.txt' and 'CUtags-comments.txt', the files/templates containing all the webtags produced by Cumulus
As I indicated in an older message, I have made the language files external so the terms (words/phrases) can easily be translated to another language and then merge with the system language file used for the 'AJAX/PHP multilingual website' templates. For example, my system french language file is called 'language-fr.txt' - so, once I had the terms (words/phrases) translated to french, I merged (included) the 'wxcudata_language-fr.txt' file into the 'language-fr.txt' file.

Note: Although not required, the english language file (ie: 'wxcudata_language-en.txt') should be merged (included) into the english system language file 'language-en.txt'.

ZIP archive 'Weather Data' was updated 23 Mars 2010

In this new release which changes have you made to the files, especially in "wxcudata.php"?

With your permission, I leave here a new version of the portuguese file: 'wxcudata_language-pt.txt'. With some improvements in the translation and adaptation to the table spaces.
And because I live a step away from the spanish border I took the liberty to do a translation for the Spanish also (I appreciate that some Spanish colleague please make a correction 8-) ).

Kind Regards!

Manuel, other than adding a version number as well as information regarding the language files, the code itself has not been changed ... as far as I can remember... :oops:

I really appreciate your assistance in providing language files - the updated portuguese language file as well as the spanish language file will be added to the 'Weather Data.zip' package.

I have spent some time looking over Mike Challis 'Fast Secure Contact Form' scrit files trying to understand the concept behind the GNU Translation Project 'gettext' ... unfortunately, I have to find some basic tutorials to allow me to understand how this whole translation system works...

Not have to thank, is an opportunity to help out in some way and thus demonstrate an appreciation for your 'Weather Data.zip' package sharing. :)

Ok, no hurry. If you can, very well. If you can not, well anyway!

I have now (thanks to Ray ;) ) my 'wxcudata.php' page finished and online: http://www.meteoelvas.com/wxcudata.php?lang=en !
I noticed however that you have a different font type. Yours is smaller and therefore looks better on the table.
Where can I change mine, if possible of course?

http://n9mfk.localweatherview.net/
In the ajax-dashboard, the code

Code: Select all

if ( (strip_units($avgspd) + strip_units($gstspd) < 0.1 ) and
  ($wrCalm <> '') ) { // use calm instead
  $wr = $imagesDir . $wrCalm;
  $wrtext = $bftspeedtext;
}
determines whether to display the 'calm' image/word.

Looking at your http://n9mfk.localweatherview.net/CUtags.php?sce=dump shows

Code: Select all

$WX['wspeed'] = '0.0';
$WX['wgust'] = '2.0';
which is assigned by http://n9mfk.localweatherview.net/CU-defs.php?sce=view statements

Code: Select all

$avgspd = $WX['wspeed'];
$gstspd = $WX['wgust'];
Since your gust speed is 2.0, the calm image is not displayed and the wind rose shows the last direction the wind came from (as designed).

Best regards,
Ken
