Cumulus Support

I've been working on a scrolling marque for my website that shows a summary of current weather data extracted from the realtime.txt. I've used script from the Weather Console (daj) and played with it a bit, added a few tags and a bit of logic to populate the marque with data which is updated every 10 seconds.

My most recent development is the addition of trend descriptors for temperature and pressure. Initially I had rising, steady and falling, but I've added riding rapidly and falling rapidly to the script and the marque today.

Does anyone have any idea of the ranges that would be appropriate for trend descriptors?

Here is a summary of what I am using:

Temperature °C
< -1.5 Falling Rapidly
< -0.2 Falling
< +0.2 Steady
< +1.5 Rising
> +1.5 Rising Rapidly

Pressure mb
< -1.0 Falling Rapidly
< -0.2 Falling
< +0.2 Steady
< +1.0 Rising
> +1.0 Rising Rapidly

I'm also considering adding other descriptors such as rising and falling slowly. What do other think?

Thanks for the feedback. It certainly was an achievement for me and my first real attempt at trying to work with modifying a jscript and get it to work.

I lifted the rate - how's that? If you pass the mouse over it, it slows down.

That's good. Did notice this morning as your temperature should be rising (at +3.6hr) that it said falling rapidly.
My rate of temp increase on a hot day is about 2/hr but feel I'm reading radiation off the wall (even though it's just under the eve). I'm moving mine today. Your temp reached about 41 yesterday. Where's your temp. gauge?

Ya, noticed the mistake in my script when I saw that myself. I have corrected it now.

It was hot yesterday, but will be even hotter today. I suspect my temp readings are out by about 2°C in the middle of the day. I have my sensor in a rather exposed position and need to provide some cover for it. Am working on that. Never-the-less, the temperature today is forecast to be 43°C, so it is an inside day for me.

I get this when viewing your website in a flock browser (firefox engine). Works OK in IE8

Bob, scrolling ok in chrome but the mouse over doesn't slow the scroll speed.

Mmmm, looks as though you are running in a higher text resolution and the font spills out of the top frame where the banner for my website resides.

Have to experiment with this a little.
